FTL Challenge 88 with Itty Bitty Buds
Thanks to Natasha at Clean and Simple Stamping for another great sketch.
Here's my version:
I used the Itty Bitty Buds hostess set, which I adore, for this card. There are no fewer than nine flowers to choose from, four leaves and this pretty stem - such a useful set, what couldn't you use it for?!!
The background is Bashful blue ink sponged onto Whisper White card stock with a sponge dauber, especially at the edges. The stems are stamped straight onto the background. I heat embossed the flowers to give a bit of texture, then cut them out and popped them onto the stems with dimensionals - here they are close up:
The black centres are Basic Black card stock punched out with a 1/4" circle punch. I like the contrast with the shiny petals.
The designer paper is scalloped at the edge and layered over a scalloped piece of Basic Black card stock. I tied one of my favourite ribbons around it - the gingham - in black this time, although I adore every single other colour it comes in too!
Supplies:
Stamps: Itty Bitty Buds, Happy Moments (sentiment)
Ink: Old Olive, Ballet Blue, Bashful Blue, Basic Black, Versamark
Card stock: Whisper White, Basic Black
Other: Designer series paper in Old Olive, Black gingham ribbon, clear embossing powder, scallop border punch
Making this card reminded me of how much fun heat embossing is. I'll never forget the first time I tried this technique and how excited I was to see my image turn suddenly from powdery white to glossy and gorgeous. I even gathered the children round and gave them a demonstration - and they were pretty impressed I can tell you!
People have been asking where my flower tutorial is. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten - you shall have it by the end of the week!
See you tomorrow.

These are beautiful - I love the embossing you have done on the flowers - so pretty x
ReplyDeleteI like how you masked your background and sponged the blue sky on. Gives such a soft effect. I also like the double punched border and your prety flowers.
