Baby buttons!

I don't know about where you are but the rain was coming down in curtains this morning. (Yes, I know I have curtains on the brain - see yesterday's post for details!) It was definitely a case of less would have been more... which brings me clumsily to the Less is More challenge which I, like many other LiMettes around the world, like to crack straight on with on a Saturday morning. This week the challenge is to make a card using the theme of circles.

My mind instantly went blank but luckily my friend reminded me of my scrumptious little Sweet Buttons embosslits die and an idea was born. Come and have a look:

Buttons are great for baby cards - I suppose because of the 'cute as a button' association - and I love that these die-cut ones are flat enough for posting but dimensional enough to look real.

I used Blushing Bride card stock for my card base and you can see the contrast between this colour and Pink Pirouette when you look at the end button. I love them together. The bottom third of the card front was embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and topped with a piece of Pretty In Pink grosgrain ribbon.

Various shades of pink cotton has been threaded through my buttons with a needle and I added a curved sentiment above one of the large ones. To give the button more prominence, I popped it up with dimensionals and tied the thread in a bow.

Supplies needed for this card:
Stamps: Punch Bunch (retired Sale-a-bration set)
Ink: Melon Mambo marker
Card stock: Blushing Bride, scraps of Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo, Rose red, Rich Razzleberry
Other: Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Pretty In Pink 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, Sweet Buttons embosslits die
You can buy any of these supplies from me and I can have them delivered to your address in the UK. Just send me an email or give me a call on 01280 820593.

We're going to a friend's 60th birthday bash tonight. He's a talented musician and I've made him a card to reflect that which I'll show you on Monday. It tickled me to bits then that when I was making this baby card, my husband came into the room, looked critically over my shoulder and asked if the card was for our friend. I said at once that as I thought pink was our friend's favourite colour and that he was just as cute as a button the card would pretty well be perfect for him...

Thank you for coming to visit me today and I shall be round to see what you've been making very soon.
Hope you're having a great weekend!

  21. Oh you are a one ! You crack me up ! The card is lovely and perfect for an elderly gentleman if he is of the pink persuasion but failing that it is sublime. Those little button dies are gorgeous and coupled with the pink and the embossing it is delicious.

Have a fun packed weekend and enjoy the drapes.
