Masculine Monday - Metallic French Foliage

Well the summer holidays are drawing to a close and Masculine Monday is back here on Crafting Clare's Paper Moments - which means I'll be starting each week with a male card! Lots of people tell me that they can never think of male cards, so I hope that some of my designs might inspire you.

Talking of inspiration, there's a fabulous colour challenge over at Less is More this week where Chrissie and Mandi are asking for metallics. I knew straight away what I wanted to do so I reached for my beloved French Foliage set and got out my embossing powders... This is the result:

I stamped the largest leaf in three layers on Early Espresso card stock. The leaves on the first layer were clear embossed, those on the second layer were embossed in silver and the top layer in gold. The frame effect is easy to achieve by rubbing the edge of the card stock with the versamark pad and embossing in silver. The panel was matted onto Early Espresso card stock for greater contrast.

I wanted to embellish the panel a little so I wrapped it with silver elastic threaded with charms. I made these by triple embossing some card stock in gold and punching shapes out of it. While the tag charm was still tacky, I stamped it with the 'love' image from Tiny Tags. The elastic cord is on the Last Chance List I'm sad to say, so it's only available while stocks last - £3.95 per reel, in gold or silver.)

Supplies needed for this card:
Stamps: French Foliage, Tiny Tags
Ink: Versamark
Card stock: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, scrap of Whisper White
Other: Clear, silver and gold embossing powder, heat gun, silver elastic cord, small heart and medium jewellery punches, paper piercer
You can buy any of these supplies from me and I can have them delivered to your address in the UK. Just send me an email or give me a call on 01280 820593. Click here to view the Last Chance List - full of stamps and accessories, some at up to 40% off, available only while stocks last.

My children all go back to school on Wednesday of this week so I've been spending the weekend buying the school uniform a more sensible and organised mother would have bought six weeks ago. I hang my head in shame but it's done now and just needs to be labelled. So what are the chances of that getting done before Tuesday night?!

Thank you so much for coming to visit me today. I really appreciate all your comments and emails and answer every one if there's a way to do so. Welcome to my new followers too - I'm always so pleased when people decide they'd like to come back and see more. And there certainly will be more! I have lots to show you this week, so I'll hope to see you again soon.

  4. Fabulous, Vicky! You always inspire me. I love the grungy, unstructured look of your stamped panel - great job.

  5. Overlaying three layers of different colour embossing has created great texture and design. All the metallic colour has created something of a mechanical feel which works perfectly for a masculine card. ( I know foliage isn't mechanical but it just has that feel to it.) Have a great week.

  6. This is wonderful!
My fave stamps too! I love all that texture and different metallic colours, It's terrific. The wrapped cord and tags are super. I tend to punch and emboss rather than emboss and punch as I like the rounded edges it gives to cut out shapes. I have to say it would be extremely fiddly however, with shapes this tiny!
A stunning card Vicky, thanks so much.

  7. This is gorgeous Vicky! I love these metallic leaves. I tried to double emboss in this way before, but the layers just melted into each other, how did you get it to work?

And you asked about my stitching - I do it bu eye, and make sure the edge of the panel I'm stitching on is directly in the middle of the foot - it usually works, but sometimes still goes a bit wonky! Good luck with the labelling, I did some last night, just another 8 Shirts to go sigh!
