Fall Harvest wheel card

Yesterday I was telling you about the surprise field we passed on our way through the fens. I might not have managed to get a photo of the amazing rider on the beach from Monday's post, but I had to stop the car and get a snap of  this:

This is what the crop in the field was:

Pumpkins! Ready to be harvested for halloween I assume. Why am I so surprised? They've got to come from somewhere! Anyway, they got me thinking about a wheel called Fall Harvest I've just bought and have been dying to have a play with. Here's the result of that little session:

I'm the first to admit that I'm not the worlds greatest colourer but it's quite hard not to get some kind of decent effect with this wheel. I used markers, a blender pen and my watercolour pencils and just thoroughly enjoyed myself! The letterbox-style layout is very simple but it allows the image to be the focus.

And isn't the image beautiful?! I love the tendrils that give it such movement. If you like colouring images it's well worth a look at the new catalogue as there are lots of new outline stamps this year.

Supplies needed for this card:
Stamps: Fall Harvest standard wheel, Easy Events (sentiment)
Ink: Basic Grey
Card stock: Naturals Ivory, Very Vanilla
Other: Markers in So Saffron, More Mustard, Peach Parfait, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, Pear Pizzazz, Wild Wasabi, Always Artichoke, Watercolour pencils, blender pen, stamp-a-majig
You can buy any of these supplies from me and I can have them delivered to your address in the UK. Just send me an email or give me a call on 01280 820593. I'M RUNNING PRIZE DRAWS EVERY DAY THIS WEEK: If you order today your name will go into a draw to win a selection of embellishments. If your order is over £25, you'll also receive one of my Christmas House tutorials.

There are some new cats in our neighbourhood and our cat is beside herself with outrage! She keeps jumping onto the windowsill next to my desk where she can survey her domain. From there she visibly swells with indignation, lashes her tail and complains to anyone who will listen - ie me! It's like having an grumpy old lady in the room!

Thank you for spending time with me today. Do leave me a comment if you have a minute - I always love hearing from you. I'll be back again tomorrow with a quick Christmas card using the new Petite Pennants punch.

Hope to see you then,

  4. I usually use wheels for backgrounds, but you've proven that they can be a focal image. This is just gorgeous! I can't believe you did this with wc pencils!

  5. Your coloring is fantastic Vicky. The image looks almost 3D.

That's funny about your cat. I've got two new kittens in my house and the other day, there was a neighborhood cat sitting on my stoop hissing and growling at my kittens through the door! I had no idea they were so territorial!

  6. Super pumpkins Vicky, I think the colouring is great. We have 2 soppy cats who come and sit on my desk at the first sign of an 'alien cat' invasion! Thanks for visiting my blog and your kind comments about my "shoe" card. :-)

  16. I think your colouring is fabulous and I love how you double mounted the image. Gorgeous! And your cat cracks me up! I miss having a cat around although given the recent chicken incident with my dogs I don't know if getting one would be such a good idea...

  18. Hi Vicky. Lovely card and layout. Your colouring is brilliant. I have a cat at home with similar habits to yours!! He has taken a bit of a back seat since we got the dog but if she gets too close to him that little front paw and all its sharp claws lashes out and swipes at her nose! Loving the new catalogue x

  19. Beautiful colouring in MS Hayes. I do often wonder when visiting your blog that although I have some Stampin Up Stamps your use of them just look out of this world. I will have to book exclusive classes with you in order to get the full benefit. On second thoughts your blog is so creative and informative I could save the flight fare and just buy more stamps !
