Young Vermillion for the ladies!

Has anyone noticed that I'm ever so slightly obsessed with my Young Vermillion stamp at the moment? I can't stop thinking of things to do with it! It's not just one for the gentlemen either - nature-loving ladies will appreciate it too. My card today is, unusually for me, quite a layered one. Come and have a look:

This time I've teamed the bird image with the delicate leaves from Pocket Silhouettes. To get the autumnal effect, I inked the leafy stamp up with Old Olive ink then tapped it randomly with a Cajun Craze marker before stamping. The sky is sponged in with Bashful Blue ink and the bird and branch stamped over the top in Early Espresso - it's easy to extend the branch with the fine end of an Early Espresso marker. I coloured the image with a mixture of markers and watercolour pencils.

I do like a bit of tearing as an embellishment! The bird panel is torn and curled at one corner then mounted onto Always Artichoke card stock topped with a piece of Patterns designer paper for contrast.

The sentiment was stamped onto a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock and cut out with the Word Window punch. I punched a hole at each end and threaded ribbon through each, securing at the back with tape. Another piece of the ribbon was tied in a bow on one side.  I used dimensionals to attach the panel to a smooth Very Vanilla card base - the perfect foil to the busy panel.

Supplies needed for these cards:
Stamps: Young Vermillion,  Pocket Silhouettes, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Bashful Blue, Early Espresso, Old Olive, Cajun Craze
Card stock: Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke
Other: Water colour pencils, Neutrals markers, Old Olive 1/8" taffeta ribbon, Word Window punch, handheld punch, Patterns designer paper
I'd be delighted to order any of these supplies for you and I can have them delivered to your address in the UK. I am committed to providing excellent customer service and am always happy to help and advise. Just send me an email or give me a call on 01280 820593.

For his homework yesterday my son had to write a thank you letter to the adventure centre he stayed at on his school trip. He set to work with enthusiasm and then read his letter out proudly. It spoke at length about the food at the centre, how excellent it was and how much my son had enjoyed it, but in his closing phrase he thanked the staff and added: "I really would have to say that this was the very best residential trip I have ever been on"  as if he were an old hand who spent his life writing critiques on the many residentials he'd experienced. He's been on two!

It's Three Minute Thursday here tomorrow so if you're looking for fast card ideas this is the place to be! Will the Young Vermillion stamp be featured? You'll just have to wait and see!

Enjoy your Wednesday,

  16. I just had to Google Vermillion because apart from a bright red colour I didn't know what it was!! Apparently there is a Vermillion flycatcher which inhabits south-western US deserts :)

Anyhows your card is just gorgeous and I love the foliage around the edge of the image and the cute sentiment tab :)

  26. Vicky I love your style and am always inspired by your stamping and techniques and have even been known to pinch a few ! This stamp is beautiful but it your expertise and talent that make the difference. Your son once again made my day is is a proper little gentleman he should start his own blog and I bet he would be quoting some of his mothers sayings !

  27. Beautiful card and love the use of good old faithful Pocket Silhouettes. Sadly as new products arrive we sometimes sadly forget the good oldies .... off to dust mine off now. TFS
