Lovely as a Tree in the mist

The challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays this week is all about misting. My first thought was to make a spritz with shimmer paint mixed with rubbing alcohol but I was intrigued by the site's suggestion to use water... Stampin' Up classic inks are water based so I could just imagine the effects of flicking water at a sponged background! I decided to give it a go - and this is the result:

The first step was sponging a square of card stock with Pool Party ink, leaving the centre paler than the outside, then spritzing it with water. When it dried it made a great snowy sky!

I got quite excited by this and imagined a lovely country walk in the snow with my imaginary golden retriever bounding ahead, tail wagging! Lovely as a Tree is the perfect set for nature scenes like this. I used the line of trees, stamped in versamark ink and rubbed over with Sahara Sand ink. I smeared a bit of Whisper White craft ink at the bottom of the card stock too before adding the pine trees. The final step was adding 'snow' with a versamark pen and heat embossing the whole lot with white embossing powder.

The sentiment really pops in Real Red against the snowy background! You can really see the effect of the misting in this photo too and I'll be using this technique again.

Supplies needed for this card:
Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Petite Pairs
Ink: Pool Party, Garden Green, Real Red, Sahara Sand, Whisper White craft ink
Card stock: Whisper White
Other: Versamark ink pad and pen, white embossing powder, heat tool, stamp-a-majig
I'd be delighted to order any of these supplies for you and can have them delivered to your address in the UK. I am committed to providing excellent customer service and am always happy to help and advise. Just send me an email or give me a call on 01280 820593.

I hope you've enjoyed the weekend. We spent ours clearing out cupboards in readiness for the men to lay our new carpet this week. What was I thinking?! As if life isn't busy enough at this time of year! We have loads of large built-in cupboards, which was one of the things that attracted me to the house in the first place - although I can certainly say I've gone off them a bit after this weekend!

Thank you for dropping by today. I'll be back tomorrow and will have lots more Christmassy things to show you this week so do pop back soon if you have time.

Hugs,

  16. Vicky,These cards are truely AWESOME !!!!! I love everything about them, you're amazing.

I am lucky enough to have Monty(my golden retriever)to take on walks like you imagined....the trouble is the snow collects in little balls under his stomach and around his legs and feet!!! so he looks like a creature from the deep!
