I always like a design with elements that fit into recesses but surely it's a bit time-consuming? The answer is no - not with the indispensable post it note! For this card I punched three circles out of the sticky part of a post it, arranged them where I wanted them on the card stock strip and then punched through them, using my punch upside down so that I could see where I was punching. The card stock strip is mounted onto the card base using dimensionals to make nice deep recesses.
I didn't want the prongs of the brads poking through the back of the card front, so I snipped them off with my Craft and Rubber scissors. (I can't praise these scissors enough - they do all the rough jobs my paper snips won't do: nothing cuts through rubber or chipboard like them and even snipping metal doesn't seem to blunt them.) The brads were then placed into their recesses with dimensionals.
These brads are so cute they really deserve to take centre stage on a card. They come in a tub (which you can alter once you've used the brads!) and there are four funky designs.
I finished the card by added a sentiment and punching a scalloped border and tucking it under the top of the recessed strip.

Card stock: Naturals Ivory, Pool Party
Other: Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch, 3/4" circle punch, Jelly Bean brads, Craft and Rubber scissors, Stamp-a-majig

Adorable! Thanks for the tip on punching the circles. I was laying out 9 postage stamp squares (punched) yesterday and managed to have them crooked. I'm not sure how I did that. I have trouble getting things lined up straight. So I'm very impressed!

ReplyDeleteMy kids lean over and tell me there is too much bling!! (and I'm not even a blingy cardmaker!). Isn't it funny how the simplest ideas turn on a lightbulb. It had never occurred to me to line things up using Postits. I'm such a visual person...this is the perfect technique for me to see if things are lining up. Thank you!
