In Stitches faux embroidery

How do Chrissie and Mandi think up their brilliant challenges? Less is More always inspires me on a Saturday morning and today was no exception - they want to see cards with stitching or a sewing theme. I immediately thought of my In Stitches wheel, which I've unmounted and divided into separate stamps (see this post for how I did it.) Come and have a look:

The stitches always remind me of leaves and plants, so I've made a faux embroidery garden! I used a variety of green inks and coloured the larger leaves in with markers. The sentiment is from Curly Cute and I set it in a split frame embossed with my Simply Scored.

The zig zag stitch reminded me of grass, so I stamped a double row at the bottom and this grounds the plants nicely too.

The stems were given a variety of flowers: Twitterpated designer buttons, which I threaded with thin shreds of card stock before attaching with glue dots; four petalled flowers punched with one of the Itty Bitty punches and centred with tiny pearls; and a cut out embossed flower coloured with Watercolour Wonder crayons, a blender pen and a marker. It's great fun adding these pretty details!

Card stock: Whisper White, scraps of Old Olive, Baja Breeze, Naturals Ivory

Life is getting just a bit too hectic just lately so I've decided to take a brief blog break to try and catch up with everything. Before I leave you, I just wanted to show you the card my youngest son made for his wonderful teacher this year. I suggested a rosette and described how to make one, but he chose the colours (purple is her favourite colour, he told me) and made the whole thing by himself. Inside, he wrote a note telling her how much he'd enjoyed the year because of her "great sense of humour". He went on to mention her sense of humour three times in four sentences so she'll be in no doubt at all where his priorities lie!
