Watercolour wonder with Everything Eleanor

Okay, it's official - I'm in love again! No, Ewan McGregor hasn't moved into the neighbourhood - it's those Watercolour Wonder crayons! My house is thick with dust as I considered it my duty to see what the crayons were like so I could let you know... well that's my story anyway! This week's challenge at Addicted to Stamps is to make a card using the colour blue - and there are three blues in my tin of Subtles crayons so it was obviously meant to be! Come and see what I've made:

A couple of days ago I made this softly coloured card using the crayons and an aquapainter, but for today's card, I used a blender pen with them and the effect is so much more intense. The flowers were stamped in Basic Grey and then I coloured them with the Marina Mist crayon. These crayons look just like a child's wax crayon and colour like one too at first. I think, although I can't be sure yet, that they are slightly resistant to ink at this stage. I used the blender pen to smooth the colour of the flowers out, then gently added shading with a Marina Mist marker before blending again. I coloured the leaves with the Certainly Celery and Wild Wasabi crayons before sponging in the background.

I didn't think it needed much embellishment so I just scored a double frame for it using my Simply Scored and added a sentiment. Very simple but HUGE amounts of fun! Needless to say, I already have the rest of the crayons on order... By the way, the leaf is from another set that I love called Happiness Shared which I consider very apt!

Here's what you'll need to make today's card:
Stamps: Everything Eleanor, Happiness Shared, Thank You Kindly
Ink: Basic Grey, Not Quite Navy, Pear Pizzazz
Card stockVery Vanilla
Other: Markers, Subtles water colour crayons, blender pen, Simply Scored, stamp-a-majig

Talking of happiness (!) I went to see my youngest son perform in his school play yesterday. He played a boy who has forgotten his PE kit and is forced to wear something from the lost property box - but the only thing that will fit him is a pink leotard and tights... Now I don't know many 11 year old boys who would agree to wear an outfit like that in public but my son has never been one to let his dignity stand in the way of a comedy moment and he brought the house down!

More excellent crafting weather is forecast for the UK this weekend, so enjoy it! I'll see you very soon,

Hugs,

  12. So many wonderful cards this week; you are spoiling us and this one is especially beautiful. I love the way you have softened the effect with the blender pen and made use of the softer basic grey to stamp the image initially - so much nicer than black ! I always tell my ladies that it's those subtle little touches that make a project successful and it's so true. Thanks for the weather forecast by the way - we're off to the Lakes today for a week !!!!! It does not bode well ! Have a great weekend ! Hugs Jane x

The blues are so vivid with the blender pen and it's a really lovely effect. I had to laugh at your son's role in the school play... clearly he's another Hayes committed to his art! 17. I don't think my son would have agreed to that costume at all; he always wants to be a tree when he has to be in a play!
