Three minute By the Tide valentine

Happy Valentine's day! I always hi-jack this day of romance and turn it into a day for reminding people I love them, which I think is a much better idea! The card I've made for my Three Minute Thursday slot today is for my wonderful daughter, who shares my dubious sense of humour. Come and have a look:

This is the quickest scene in the world! I roughly sponged a piece of Naturals White card stock with Baja Breeze ink and over-stamped it with the coral image from By the Tide. Then came the fish, stamped in Stazon black ink and coloured roughly with a marker. The scene was cut out with my wonderful 2 1/2" circle punch - if you haven't got one of these, I really do urge you to get one! I use it ALL the time!

I know my daughter will smile at the idea of Mr Fish swimming about reciting love poetry! These fabulous little paper clips are great fun and perfect for showcasing a sentiment or image. For mine I used a heart cut from Real Red Core'dinations card stock using my small heart punch.

Sponging the edges of half the circle with a darker ink really gives the scene a bit of dimension and takes seconds!

Here's what you'll need to make this card
Stamps: By the Tide
Ink: Summer Starfruit, Garden Green, Baja Breeze, Island Indigo
Card stock: Naturals White, scrap of  Real Red Core'dinations
Other: Small Heart punch, 2 1/2" circle punch, Sahara Sand marker, Cute Clips

My daughter is away on a French exchange trip at the moment but I can't have her missing out on a family tradition, so I slipped her card and some yummies into her suitcase before she left! I know that each member of my lovely family is in no doubt whatsoever that I love them to bits but I do enjoy taking the opportunity to remind them!

Wishing you a day full of love!

  1. Love both your Valentine cards to your children. Cotton Bunny is very cute; and at first glance of Mr Fish, I wondered how you got that interesting speech bubble, then I scrolled down and you've used one of the paper clips, very clever!!!
