Getting a move on with Summer Afternoon

I was brought up short by the Need for Speed theme at Less is More today: Stampin' Up does have a perfect set for this challenge but I swapped mine a couple of weeks ago for a beautiful set called Summer Afternoon depicting lazy days in the garden. While thinking about the challenge over breakfast though I suddenly thought of a way to use Summer Afternoon instead! Come and see:

I thought I could interpret the challenge literally as a NEED for speed and the image I've used is of a very slow-looking, old-fashioned bike, weighed down with a basket of flowers and left propped up there for so long a bunny has come to investigate!

The image was stamped in Basic Grey ink and coloured with markers before masking and inking the border and adding some decorative scoring with my Simply Scored tool. The scoring is hard to see in these photos but here's a close up:

Oh I do love a bit of subtle scoring! The sentiment is from the retiring Easy Events set which I thought was quite amusing paired with the bike image. By the way, do you like the way I remembered that it was one layer week at Less is More this week? YAY!

I used the fabulous sketch from this week's CASe this Sketch challenge, swizzling it round 90 degrees. And I shall also link up with CASology where the cue word is 'Wheels'.

Here's what you'll need for this card

Ink: Midnight Muse, Crumb Cake classic inks, stazon black

Finally, talking of Need for Speed, I am very proud to say that my daughter passed her driving test this week. Her reaction was predictable...

I always tell her that if she had a tail it would be wagging all the time!

Have a lovely weekend!

  1. Really pretty card Vicky-and the embossing finishes it off perfectly-what a fabby take on the sketch-and on the theme, there is nothing like an old fashioned bicycle with a basket is there ? Beats those 500 gear modern bikes every time in my opinion LOL!
Big well done to your daughter -she certainly does look like the cat that got the cream-and very rightly so :)

  7. WOW Vicky ! Isn't it funny that even with the simplest if designs there's always a way to get the wow factor! For me,I think the touch of sky added to just the edge of the card has completed your wonderful design! Congrats to your young driver, my sons still early days with his lessons but I'm sure that he too will be "wagging" one day soon! Have a great weekend! X
