Hello crafting friends!
One of the things I love about crafting is the excitement of putting colours together. Using one colour is harder for me. But that's what challenges are all about! The Rainbow Card Challenge's latest one is to make a card using just the colour purple.
One of the things I love about crafting is the excitement of putting colours together. Using one colour is harder for me. But that's what challenges are all about! The Rainbow Card Challenge's latest one is to make a card using just the colour purple.
So here's my card in all its purply purplishness!
The stamp set I used is Because You Care, a retired Stampin' Up set I bought because it had a great image to make backgrounds with, and I also liked the label stamp. I've used both here.
There are lots of purples in the background! It was stamped in Highland Heather and coloured in with Rich Razzleberry, Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder markers.
I stamped the label, and the birthday sentiment inside it, in Gorgeous Grape ink, . It was fussy cut and decorated with markers and enamel dots. I stamped the birthday sentiment again and snipped out the word 'birthday' so I could pop it up on dimensionals for a bit of extra interest. The label was glued to an Elegant Eggplant panel, positioned so that it overlapped the background a little.
AND IN OTHER NEWS
I didn't used to like the colour purple for some reason but I think one of the things that helped me get over my aversion was my daughter. When she was four or five, she used to collect pretty buttons. She gave the buttons names and personalities and played 'schools' with them and put them to bed in home-made beds - adorable! We used to search charity shops for unusual buttons and one of our finds was a large, ornate, purple one. "Isn't she beautiful?!" I said. "What are you going to call her?" My daughter thought for a few seconds. "Purpletta!" she said.; "I'm going to call her Purpletta!" Shortly after this we found an extraordinary pink button who was christened Pinkenella, but all the other buttons had actual names :)
Love your purple card and the raised "birthday" so pretty and the buttons names ? such fun.

Thank you Faith!
DeleteI think my daughter has kept those buttons - very fond memories. Who needs a bunch of plastic toys?!
I have a fear of purple....not one of my favorite colors! But I loved your story about your daughter and your card is certainly very pleasant! In fact, you should enter it at our As You See It challenge...it ends tomorrow, so you have plenty of time to enter---it's called Shades of Lavender!!
ReplyDeleteOooh, thanks for introducing me to another challenge LeAnne! I can't enter this card because it took considerably longer than 10 mins (all that fussy-cutting and colouring!) but I might try another!
DeleteVicky- I love your CAS purple card! Thanks for showcasing purple at The Rainbow Card Challenge.
