A splash of sunshine

Hello crafting friends!

Never mind what the weather is doing outside - we crafters can make our own sunshine! Come and see:

There we are - not a cloud in the sky! I've used Concorde & 9th's Hello Sunshine Turnabout stamp set for this one layer card and it's brilliant because you can create multi-coloured rays without inking up with markers! Just use a central point and stamp the image four times, inking up with a different yellow each time and turning the stamp 90 degrees each time. It is much easier to do than to describe!

To build up the rays, I used four Stampin' Up yellows: Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody and So Saffron. The centre of the sun is the solid circle from Stampin' Up's Waterfront, but you could easily just use a sponge dauber and ink.

I adore the sentiment, don't you? It's perfect for cheering people up and generally spreading a bit of happiness! I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black and finished the card with lovely shiny gold sequins and gems coloured with alcohol markers.

I was inspired to make this card when I saw the fabulous sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch this week. I shall also link up with Addicted to Stamps and More where they're challenging us to make clean and simple cards.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
There's very little sunshine to be seen in the heart of England today, but plenty of mud. My charming assistant Eva has conveniently forgotten that now she's a grown up lady dog, she's not permitted to wallow about in puddles like a naughty piglet, and I've had to send her off to the river to rinse off! She enjoyed that and being towelled dry but is now miffed because she can't understand why it's not dinner time at 3.30 in the afternoon!

It's lovely to see you here today. I'll be back very soon with more crafting fun :)

Hugs,

  1. You just made me wonder what dogs and cats think of us changing our clocks twice a year? Their tummies must be confused just like ours! Eva looks so pretty toweled off after her naughty piglet adventure! And your sunshine card looks so cheerful, Vicky! Well done with the design and making it an OLC!! Hugs, Darnell GD CTS

    1. Lovely to see you guesting at CTS Darnell - congratulations :)
Apparently, in Europe, we're abolishing the time change by 2021 and I'm SO pleased about that! I think animals and humans alike find it disorienting, but at least you can explain to humans.

  2. Yep . . . I love that sentiment too. Perfect for cheering someone up . . . and the gold sequins are a perfect embellishment.

Oh dear Eva . . . mud rolls and a towel off again?! Mind you, you still look gorgeous!

    1. Lol, more of a mud wallow this time - there is a difference you know! Still, she's a VERY good swimmer now, so she's expert at washing herself off. Although fox poo is a whole different story! xxx
