Hello crafting friends!
I think I've made enough Christmas cards now but you can't have too many can you? And anyway, card challenges keep pinging into my inbox and I can't resist joining in! So, anyone for a little snow...?
I fell in love with this little Altenew Snowman and he was SUCH a bargain, and I didn't have any snowmen in my stash (can you believe that?!!), and I loved the sentiment, so he hopped into my shopping basket!
The card started life as a card base and panel cut out of kraft card stock. I stamped the snowman onto the panel using white craft ink, then stamped a tree from Stampin' Up's White Christmas in black ink right next to him. Then came the pens! With a black fineliner, I elongated the trunk of the tree and added detail to the arms of the snowman; a white gel pen came in handy for sketching in a snowy ground, piling up snow on the branches of the tree and making it snow in the background; and a silver Stampin' Sparkle gave the tree trunk, the snowman's arms and the snow a silvery shimmer.
I stamped the snowman again, using pale blue ink on white card stock, and fussy cut him. His hat and scarf were coloured with a pale blue marker (I don't have Seaside Spray but this was close) and details added with my fineliner, and then I glued him over the snowman on the panel. The card was finished with a sentiment (to warm things up a bit!) and a pierced frame before attaching the panel to the card base.
CHALLENGES
I used this week's great sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for this card and the colour palette at The Paper Players which has been playing on my mind ever since Sunday!
AND IN OTHER NEWS
Making this card made me feel quite wistful for snow! It rained all day yesterday and the dogs and I got drenched. Today, we found the river has burst its banks again.

Hugs,
Adorable card! I much prefer snow to the incessant rain recently! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI know. This rain is TOO WET!!! xx
DeleteWell, if you didn't have any snowmen, this was an ideal one to start out with...he is as cute as can be! I love the little scene you created, especially with the addition of the snow on the trees and the silvery accents! I WANT SNOW!! Right now it is raining (again) so like you, we're a wee bit damp! But your snowy scene made me smile! Thanks for playing with my colors this week!
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous colours LeAnne - thank you! We will be patient and wait for snow. One thing we know is that it will arrive eventually!
DeleteWhat a cutie Vicky - he looks like his arms came straight off that tree! Love the dotty border edge too. I think snow would be preferable to all this rain we've been having - it's miserable for sure (or maybe that's just me - I have another cold and this time it has well and truly knocked me for six and I just don't have time to be poorly!!) Thanks for sharing your sweet snowman with us over at The Paper Players this week!
ReplyDeleteOh Joanne, I'm so sorry you're poorly again. Do take care of yourself x
DeleteSuch a sweet little snowman! I love how you colored snow all around! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, yes, I certainly was getting into snowy mode!
DeleteMarisela Delgado said: We hit 84*F the other day. Del Rio, Texas hit 88*F. So, wonk,wonk.........no snow here. ha-ha-ha Yeah, cold and rain make for horrible days and ACHES AND PAINS. =) Have a great weekend, my friend. Mari
ReplyDeleteWell this is just a whole other story Mari! Enjoy your lovely warm weather!
DeleteMarisela Delgado said: I'm sorry, Vicky. I wasn't trying to throw a monkey wrench in the conversation. You and your friends were sharing about beautiful, snowy Christmases, which sounds so fairytale-like and foreign to us. I mean, we hit 100*F one year. I only mentioned our sad and lame Christmas weather as a joke to make fun of us, compared to your beautiful, snowy, dreamy Christmas. It was meant as a joke. I apologize for the misunderstanding. I hope that your Christmas is extra-special and extra-snowy this year, Vicky. --Mari
DeleteNo offence taken at all Marisela.
DeleteJust darling, Vicky! I love the snowy detail on the crumb cake cardstock. Thanks so much for joining us this week over at The Paper Players!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne - and thank you for all the challenges this year at The Paper Players. I've had so much fun playing along :)
DeleteLove this sweet snowman on the kraft cardstock, Vicky! I'd love to see some snow and a snowman like this in my yard!
ReplyDeleteMe too Bonnie! In the UK, everything stops when we get heavy snow and everyone is forced to go and have fun! (That's what it seems like anyway!)
DeleteDelightful card Vicky, love the blue and white on Kraft card, and all the added details, so clever! Xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's a great colour combination isn't it (shout out to LeAnne!)
