Showered with love

Hello crafting friends!

Have you noticed how my cards are all about the weather? I AM British after all *winks*. Yesterday it was snow, the day before was sunshine... come and see what we've got today:

Luckily not fog!!! This card was a lot of fun to make! The Stampin' Up spring/summer catalogue is out and Under My Umbrella was the set that most caught my eye. It turned up yesterday and was perfect for this non-fussy valentine.

I cut a card panel with a Heffy Doodles stitched rectangle die and stamped the rain and a put-together sentiment on it in versamark ink. These were heat embossed with silver embossing powder which created a nice shimmery backdrop for the star of the show...

The umbrella! It was stamped in Real Red ink on Flirty Flamingo card stock and I used the punch to cut it out. The punch also came in handy to make a sticky note mask, so that I could turn my umbrella into The Brolly Of Lurve using the tiny heart from another set!

CHALLENGES
Inspiration for this card came from The Paper Players where the theme is Love is in the Air. I've used Samantha's colours from CAS Colours and Sketches where I was guesting last month. *waves and smiles at my new friends there*

AND IN OTHER NEWS
When clearing up after making this card, I did the thing that you are supposed to NEVER do: I gathered the inky stamps up in my hand and ran them under the tap. Of course one of them escaped and naturally I hadn't put the plug in the sink :/ There followed a tense episode with a long pair of crafting tweezers that I've certainly never used for crafting but perhaps this is its true purpose?! You'll be glad to know that my new stamp set is intact - phew!

Please make me feel better by telling me about your crafting accidents!

Hugs,

  2. Absolutely AWESOME umbrella card.

I have to admit that I stared at the screen in horror about your wilfully throwing stamps down the sink! LOL!

Crafting mishaps for me are generally limited to searching HIGH AND LOW for a clear stamp that's stuck itself somewhere it shouldn't when I was only using it 5 mins before! They do like to play hide and seek with me!

    1. Well I think wilfully might be stretching it a bit! I have the losing stamps problem and that extends to other crafting items too that I 'just pop down for a moment'.

  4. Too funny but not! The only mishaps I have are looking high and low for a stamp and finally finding it stuck on the sleeve of my shirt!

    1. Yep, that's happened to me too Doris - and I suspect quite a lot of other stampers!

One of my accidents, was using my stamping platform and wondering why it wouldn't stamp as it should, until, after quite a few tries, I discovered a clear stamp right on the edge preventing me stamping part of the stamp! Could have been worse I suppose LOL.

  7. Oh Vicky, this is such a clever design and your "brolly of lurve" is so cute! I think every one of my card making sessions is riddled with one mistake or another, or I lose a clear stamp, or nick my finger and get blood on my card. Such is the life of a klutz! I'm so glad you were able to retrieve your stamp, now put that darn plunger back in the sink! LOL!

Such a treat to have you in The Paper Players gallery each week!

    1. Haha Stef, I knew there was a technical term for the kind of crafter I am and 'klutz' is perfect! But I love your work so I'm in great company :)

    1. Loved Samantha's unusual combination - the red and pink with the addition of silver.

  9. Love your sweet brolly full of love Vicky - you're right, the weather is a particularly British obsession (currently cold with sun shining, an improvement on the cloak of fog when I did my early school run this morning!) So glad you managed to retrieve your stamp - you need a little mesh bag to put them ready for washing I think!! On the upside, at least you knew where the stamp was - I've spent many fruitless hours searching my craft room, the dustbin, etc. to no avail - only for the missing stamp to reappear stuck to something random hours later! Thanks for sharing your love-ly creation with us over at The Paper Players this week!

    1. Now why didn't I think of that? A little mesh bag is exactly what I need! We've all been there, searching for an elusive and usually tiny stamp... today I found a sentiment stamp that I'd been hunting for - in my stamping platform!!!

  11. This is such a sweet card, Vicky! I love the little hearts on the umbrella. Such a fun way to brighten a rainy day. I'm also very happy that you were able to rescue your stamp. Whew! I recently thought I lost a very small photopolymer stamp and as I was sitting on the floor for the 4th time looking all over for it...my Maine Coon Cat came walking up to me and it was stuck in his fur. The struggles we go through with our stamps, right? Ha! Thank you so much for joining us this week over at The Paper Players!
