Pisky fish

Hello crafting friends!

There's nothing like back-of-the-mind worry to strike the mojo down and, over the last week or two, I've done my share of looking at crafting challenges, looking at my stash and thinking 'um...' But today, ideas happened and I had a lovely crafting session! Come and see:

I started off by inking the sea using a mask made with one of the Lawn Fawn Stitched Simple Wavy Border dies. Holding the mask down, I blended a blue and a blue-green ink upwards, moving the mask a small amount each time. The panel was cut out with a Stitched Rectangle die from Heffy Doodles and trimmed at the top with one of Lawn Fawn's Stitched Puffy Cloud Border dies.

The fish is from Under the Sea by Clearly Besotted. I stamped him, coloured him with alcohol markers and fussy cut him. The sentiment was stamped in Memento black ink over the sea and the fish popped up on a dimensional at a jaunty angle :)

EDITED TO ADD AN AWARD
I was very proud that this card was picked as the winner at CASology!

CHALLENGES
It was the Masking challenge at Perfectly CAS that got me started today and the fish represented a Pisces for CASology's Zodiac code word. Cardz 4 Guyz want to see cards with a By or In the Sea theme, and at Watercooler Wednesday there's an Anything Goes With a Masculine Twist challenge so I'll join in there too.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
One of our nicknames for my youngest son is The Biscuit. (Nope, no idea why!) This has sometimes morphed into The Bisky Bat (no clue about this either!) He is also a Pisces, so The Bisky Bat turns into The Pisky Fish around birthday time. We were lucky enough to have been able to celebrate his birthday outside and in a restaurant before Covid-19 hit the UK, but this card might be for him next year :)

Hope you are having a peaceful and productive weekend. What are you up to today?

Hugs,

  2. What a great card for either gender. Love your wonderful inking of the ocean waves and coloring your "pisky fish"! So glad you were able to celebrate with your son before our current situation.

Thanks too for all of your kind comments! I've been meaning to come see your blog but have had some frustrating computer issues. But I'm here now and loving all your creations!

    1. Thanks Stef! So sorry you've been having computer issues. That is definitely NOT something you want at a time like this, when we're all relying on our computers to stay connected. Hope you've got it sorted. Take care xx

  6. Oh dear me Vicky, I recognise that scenario so well and isn't it so frustrating. I've he added annoyance that I was due to collect my post surgery close up glasses literally as lockdpwn hit us so crafting and writing on blogs is like doing everything through a haze. I've fund I can enlarge the size of most blog posts but the comment boxes remains soooooo small, hence thee's probably more than one type as I go along.

But when you mojo did make an appearance you created such a striking design which I am sure your son will love..

  7. What a CAS triumph Vicky - that masking is really effective! It’s so easy to set out to create and want something you don’t have, especially when you see the amazing things others create with. The biggest challenge is crafting with what you have!

    1. Oh no, I didn't mean it like that! I meant usually when I look at a challenge and look at my stash a whole flood of ideas come bursting into my head but these days, not so much. And yes, I love the challenge of crafting with what I have (although there is no pleasure like new craft stash, am I right?!)

    1. Glad you had a pisky fish for your birthday meal Lesley! I'm beginning to think that the lack of mojo is just a state of mind because a lot of us are feeling the same but there are still some gorgeous creations on everyone's blogs! xxx
