Sunset sympathy

Hello crafting friends!

Today, I had a memory of a long ago summertime stroll on a cliff top walk. It had been a hot day on holiday in the West Country, and I remember feeling the setting sun still warm on my skin and a light breeze ruffling the wild flowers that grew along the path. It's been a 'missing mojo' kind of a few weeks but that memory was enough to get me going on a card - *does happy dance!*

I sponged a simple background onto a card panel with distress inks, making a strong horizon with a sticky note. I chose some of the wild flowers from Funky Fossil's In The Meadow stamp set and stamped them onto the background using Stampin' Up's Night of Navy ink. The panel was trimmed using a Heffy Doodles stitched rectangle die.

I thought the tranquility of this scene made it perfect for a sympathy card so I chose a sentiment from Clearly Besotted's Simply Said and stamped it on a strip of card stock. Trimming the edges with the same stitched rectangle die as before enabled me to fit the strip seamlessly across the card.

The card panel was popped up on dimensionals for a bit of interest but I opted for no embellishments as I like sympathy cards to be quite plain. This one is for my stash - thank goodness I don't need it right now.

CHALLENGES
I've been thinking about this month's Navy and One Other Colour challenge at The Flower Challenge for ages before coming up with this, so I shall link up there; also at Just Us Girls, where Frames are the theme and I'm hoping my stitched frame fits the bill.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
My youngest son flitted through the room while I was making this card and leaned over my shoulder to look. Usually he tells me what he thinks of my card but today he got distracted with the inks. "Distress Inks!" he said with approval. "Whatever next? Upset card stock? Agonised embellishments?!"

Thanks for coming to visit me today.

Sending hugs,

  8. Just left a comment on another entry who is lacking a mojo at the moment, maybe they (including mine) are all on holiday together?? Your card couldn't be more perfect. Love how you blended the ink across the shape of the flowers and the white sentiment strip across it really makes those colours pop. If you happen to see my mojo, can you please send it back home?? And I'm over the moon to see you at The Flower Challenge xxx
