Hello crafting pals!
Well, the heatwave here has broken and Eva and I got drenched this morning. It was lovely to see her romping about in the rain, after the last few days of lying on the tiles panting. The soaking obviously did me a lot of good too as I did more crafting and less dithering about in the Craft Square Metre today!
Here's what I made - a one layer card, prompted by a few of my favourite challenges and a NBUS stamp set from Funky Fossil called Bee Geometric.
I masked off the bottom and left-hand side of a good thick card base and taped the Honeycomb stencil, also from Funky Fossil, over it. I sponged distress ink into it, blending it out to a fade. The hexagon line image was stamped over the top with SU So Saffron ink, and then the bee and sentiment layered over that with Momentum black.
I love this bee! I spent ages looking for a bee set and this is a lovely one that contains two sizes of bee and nods to the current deco trend. I coloured my bee with water-based markers, so no colour would bleed through to the inside of the card, and gave her wings a lovely sparkle with a Wink of Stella pen.

EDITED TO ADD AN AWARD:
So pleased that this card was a Top 3 pick at Addicted to CAS.
CHALLENGES
I'm joining in with Less is More, where the recipe is Solid and Outline; Addicted to CAS, where it's a one layer challenge; AAA Cards, where the brief is to use just one corner and I've also gone for the optional masking challenge. I'm also linking up with the NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) Challenge with my fun new stamp set :)
AND IN OTHER NEWS
Eva has been back to her lively self today. This is a picture of her having a rest after spending an enjoyable half hour rummaging about in the laundry basket.
After an exhaustive search, she found a blouse of mine which she brought downstairs. She showed it off to me cheekily and then pranced outside with it, tail wagging proudly. She deposited it on the wet grass (see the photo above) and settled down for a nap. Later, I asked her to bring it in, which she did, accepting herbribe reward of a tiny piece of cheese and feeling that training me was coming on nicely.

On its way to you my lovely! xxx
DeleteGorgeous card Vicky!love that sweet little bee and all the yellow.Sorry just seen your comment...the postage type dies are from Hero Arts 'Infinity dies'. They are not bad at all for using on A6 card fronts, I used the second largest one on mine. The largest is 4.28" x 5.75" and the smallest6 is 0.46" x 0.66". I love the plain stitched dies set from Heffy Doodle as they are the only truly A6 dies I have found so far.HTH ;) Viv xx
ReplyDeleteBless you Viv, and thanks for the info xx
DeleteFabulous one-layer, Vicky! Just love the stenciled honeycomb and the sweet bee! Oh and what a darling dog - you're so calm about the blouse on the grass; there would've been no treats forthcoming at my house - LOL.
ReplyDeleteLOL, well she was bred to retrieve and we don't do any pheasant shooting in our house so blouses are fair game! She only gets a treat if she picks it up and gives it to me.
DeleteGorgeous card! I love your design!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny!
DeleteThe Queen of CAS has created another stunning piece, beautiful as always Vicky.

That is a good sentiment isn't it? It's how I feel about housework lol!
DeleteI love everything about this one ... absolutely lovely
ReplyDeleteCheers Stef!
DeleteGreat card but,I must admit, I love the tales of Eva. DH had a Goldie or two...before we were married ... and one of them was just like Eva. Tales of her antics and the wonderful photos start our day for us.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Aw, once you've made friends with a golden you join the golden club! They are all such characters aren't they!
DeleteGotta love a bee! Great use of the solid and outline hexagons too
ReplyDeleteKathyk

DeleteLove the corner stamping on this fun OLC. Thanks for joining in at ATCAS
ReplyDeleteps - AWESOME 4-legged kid :)
Always fun to make a OLC! I will pass your message on to Eva (she knows how gorgeous she is already of course!)
DeleteI left you a long message thanking you for your visit, then it disappeared in the ether. I wanted to tell you how glad I was you visited me, because I love everything about your blog, including your incredible cards. Sadly, I don't make cards, but I sure love all the ones I've seen so far.
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed meeting Eva. She's a beauty and reminds me of my Chesapeake Bay retriever that was sadly stolen from me years ago. Eva has more hair than my boy, though, which is indicative of Goldens. She is a real beauty.
Again, thanks for dropping by my blog, because I am in LOVE with your cards and your blog.
Thank you for popping by Elizabeth, especially for persevering when the first message disappeared like that. I'm so, so sorry that you had your boy stolen. You must have been absolutely devastated and I have no words. Sending hugs x
DeleteAwesome! Love your card design and perfect placement of those Funky Fossil goodies. Beautiful CAS card! Thanks for playing at AAA Cards, hope to see you join in with future challenges too. Stay safe and keep crafting!

DeleteLol! Your Eva stories always give me such a good chuckle, Vicky, and you're so right about them training us!
ReplyDeleteYour layered stamping on this card is so gorgeous and has so much depth. I really do like that bee image too.
I'm a disappointment to Eva I'm sure. It's my stubborn streak lol!
