Blackberry season!

Hello, crafting friends!

We're at the tail end of the blackberry season now, but for weeks people have been turning up to the fields at the bottom of our road carrying containers and helping themselves to nature's bounty. I love that you can still gather food from the hedgerows in this country!

I made a thank you card today using a favourite stamp of mine for this season. It's from Perfect Postage, a long ago retired Stampin' Up set, and features blackberries in a tiny square frame.

To create a larger focal point, I stamped the image six times, coloured the images with watercolour pencils and mounted them in a grid on a piece of coordinating card stock.

The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted's Simply Said. I stamped it in two colours using my stamping platform and water-based markers.

CHALLENGES
Season is the word at Time Out Challenges this fortnight, and I've gone for the optional twist of Colouring, so I'm linking up there; I used the gorgeous colours at The Color Throwdown so am joining in there too.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
As well as berries from the hedges, this is the time of year that boxes of apples start appearing at the front gates of those with apple trees in their gardens. They usually have a handwritten 'help yourself' sign on them and it makes me so happy. Somehow I feel that it is what we were designed to do - gather food from the fields and hedgerows and share with our neighbours.

Right! Off to make an apple and blackberry pie!

Sending hugs,

  1. Wow ~ That would be so nice to have blackberries growing wild to pick. Beautiful thank you card in such pretty colors. You'll have to post a picture of the free apples ~ That would make me smile too. ~ Enjoy!

  2. Even from the thumbnail were I couldn't see details the colours just said blackberries to me and of course they are when I arrived here, so beautifully seasonal.

Azaria collected a good haul round our paddocks yesterday, then I saw her in the orchard picking apples so I am guessing blackberry and apple pie was the order of the day in my daughters house.

And saying that, I think I just might go and find some to make a crumble for dinner.

  7. Such a very beautiful card Vicky. This time of year always reminds me of going off to pick blackberries with my father on a Sunday morning, then the gorgeous blackberry tart my mother made from them. It is wonderful we can still do that, we have wild ground at the top of the garden that we can pick from, so no long journeys to get some LOL. Again - I LOVE your card.
