The masked Christmas

Hello, crafting friends!

When our blue skies are blotted out by stormy grey clouds and bad news piles in, what is a crafting girl to do? Make Christmas cards of course! Whatever happens, Christmas is on its way and cards may be more important than ever this year.

This card was remarkably quick and easy to make. I started by tearing a bit of scrap paper and using it to mask of the bottom of a thick card base, adding sticky notes around the top edges to mask a frame off too. A variety of blue, green and purple inks were sponged inside to create a northern lights kind of sky. I used the tops of Tim Holz Woodlands die cut trees as a stencil to create a line of Christmas trees and then peeled away my masks.

I was quite pleased with the shape it made! For a splash of extra colour, I added a sentiment cut with the Modern Merry Christmas die by Tonic Studios and doodled in some snow with my new white Uni Posca paint pen (which I LOVE!)

EDITED TO ADD AN AWARD
Very proud that this card was chosen as the winner at CAS Christmas Card Challenge!

AND IN OTHER NEWS
We have had such a lovely long spring and summer that I think Eva has forgotten that there is other weather!

'Mum, the door is closed and I want to go and hang out in the nice outdoors room. I don't understand why you haven't opened it up today...?'

Sending hugs,

  4. This is just lovely! Such a beautiful scene. I remember the VERY FIRST stamping event I went to, the demo (it wasn't SU, though), cut a "hill" and stamped some pine trees above it to create a little scene like yours....I was flabbergasted and immediately HOOKED! Fun to know we can still use those easy techniques to create beautiful things!
