Frosty Christmas greetings

Hello, crafting friends!

My fingers are beginning to feel a bit chilly when I'm out walking Eva first thing and, although that's because of a sharp wind rather than any frost, it got me thinking about those lovely bright frosty mornings to come. Which inspired today's card!

First I made a background by masking off most of my card front and inking a fading strip down the left hand edge. I removed the mask and stamped a greeting, combining stamps from Stampin' Up's Merry Christmas To All and Uniko's Pure Floral Poinsettia.

Then out came my perfect snowflakes from Dies By Chloe that I found on eBay last year! I cut several flakes out of silver and blue card stocks and arranged them down the edge. The card was finished with clear gems and blue sequins.

CHALLENGES
I used the fabulous sketch at this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge; I'm also joining in with Less is More, choosing the blue and Silver option; and will also link up at The Rainbow Card Challenge's Sparkling Sapphire Challenge.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
Just when I thought we'd got through firework season, they started up again last night :/ There are fields at the bottom of the road behind our house and I had taken Eva out there last thing as usual when a firework went off directly across the field. She was petrified and her flight instinct took over. She turned tail and ran home, with me clinging to her lead like a rag doll. When 40 kilos of golden retriever wants to get home fast, there's not much you can do about it! I just wish people would stop buying fireworks. Yes, they're pretty but they're a shocking pollutant and they're sure as heck not good for either wild or domestic animals. What do you think? Could you live life without fireworks?

Sending hugs,

  4. Your card is VERY Beautiful Vicky, so simple, but a great impact. Love it.
Fireworks? I wouldn't mind if it was on ONE night only, but the fireworks produced now have such awfully loud bangs, I'm sure they weren't like that when I was young.

  5. Love this Vicky - CAS perfection! That graduated sponging is so effective and those sparkly sequins and snowflakes are perfect for some festive sparkle! I love the spectacle of a firework, but honestly I could live without them - my teenagers certainly could have last night when one of my neighbours started letting them off at 10pm - so inconsiderate! Hope you and Eva have recovered from the fright (and flight!)

  7. Stunning snowflake card, and love your stag with the northern lights too. I thought they were banning private fireworks. They seem worse this year :(

I see Eva forgot about your hamstring injury when she legged it back home! Hope you're both ok.

I could happily live without fireworks!

  12. Gorgeous card, Vicky! The later fireworks would have been for Diwali... and at least they were only for one night, instead of the British idiots setting them off for weeks at all hours!

  16. A beautiful card - that graduated margin really sets off your die cuts so well.
As for fireworks, I too have a furry friend that doesn't want to go out to pee if there's even a distant pop of a firework. Kudos to Sainsbury's for not selling any more :)

  21. What an elegant card ~ I've never heard of Chloe dies ~ that's a beautiful batch of snowflakes you've created. I'm glad you didn't get hurt with her running so fast! I do like fireworks but I think they should only be done by professional organizations for the fourth of July and New Years Eve and that's it. :)
