Leaves in different ways

Hello, crafting friends!

Everyone has favourite types of stamps don't they. Many of us can't resist flowers but I'm also attracted by bird stamps, dog stamps and, more obscurely, furniture stamps. Not to mention tree stamps and leaf stamps - which brings me to today's post where I've used a large leafy stamp in a couple of different ways.

CARD ONE

This is a very simple card made by stamping Large Background Tropical Paradise from Uniko in green ink, trimming it with a stitched rectangle die from Heffy Doodle and attaching it to a card base.

The sentiment is from Stampin' Up's Letterpress Winter (retired.) I stamped it in Versamark ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder for a nice shiny look. It was cut out with a stitched label die from The Works and popped up on the background with dimensional pads.

CARD TWO

I stamped the same leafy stamp in green again. This time I used alcohol markers to colour the image, then cut nine circles out with a 1" circle punch. I arranged these on a card panel cut slightly smaller than my card base.

The sentiment is from Concord & 9th's Enjoy It All, stamped in dark green and heat embossed with clear embossing powder  - couldn't quite capture the shine in this photo, but it's lovely and glossy! The card panel was attached to the base with dimensional pads.

Here are the two cards together. They're very different aren't they, but both are quite masculine designs.

EDITED TO ADD AN AWARD
These cards got an Honourably Mention at the Twofer Challenge!

CHALLENGES
I made these cards for the Twofer Challenge where we are asked to make two cards, two different designs, for two different occasions using the same stamp/die/stencil; I'm linking both up with Tristan's Masculine challenge at Watercooler Wednesday too.
Card One uses two dies so I'm joining in with Happy Little Stampers Die challenge where Anything Goes.
Card Two was made using Cécile's beautiful sketch at Freshly Made Sketches so I'm playing along there.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
I can talk all I like about favourite types of stamps but I know what you're thinking... I just like stamps don't I! It would be much quicker to make a list of the kinds of stamps I DON'T like! And I suspect that goes for many of you too :)

Sending hugs,

  5. How clever to use this stamp in those two ways. I was drawn to this post because I have just stamped this same stamp from Uniko in green ink and it is currently sitting in my misti while I decide what to do with it! It is new so this is the first time I have used it. Maybe it will become a twofer like yours, but I will have to think of a new idea which seems to be hard for me at the moment. I love your twofer cards xx

  7. WOW! Fantastic ways to use a background stamp, Vicky! Love how you've used just the outlines with the bold sentiment for the first card! Brilliant to punch the circles from the second card that you've colored! Thanks so much for sharing with us at The Twofer Challenge!

  14. Haha, love your closing, Vicky ... so, so true! I've decided this is my craft life in order of love: 1) organizing; 2) stamping; 3) shopping, which takes me back to 1) a deer, a female deer ...

How did I miss this amazing stamp when it came out?! It's so versatile and I love your two designs showing it in all its glory on one and totally different peeking from the fun apertures in the second as a great take on the sketch! Thank you for playing in TCC #37! Hugs, Darnell

  18. I had to laugh at your graphic, Vicky! That so captures me to a "T!" Let's see...I'm with you on flowers, leaves, and will stop for cute bunny stamps, and cake stamps, among others, lol! And I'm pretty sure I'll be shopping for this Uniko background stamp. What a stunner! You've made two absolutely fabulous cards from it! LOVE that first card. Simple, and simply gorgeous! And your birthday card is so clever! It looks like it needs to be in a frame. Colorful, leafy circles all lined up and making my heart happy. Seriously great cards. Thank you so much for joining us at The Twofer Challenge. Stay safe. Bev

  20. Hi Vicki I;m in love with your first card with the beautiful leaves and the bold sentiment they work so well together. The colouring on the second is fantastic so bright and peeping out from the circles makes a huge impact against the white card. Hope you and the family are well.

  23. Can I steal your idea? That's brilliant. The contrast between the two cards is perfect and cutting out those circles of the coloured in stamp - such a good idea. I wish I had more time for trying things out... Alison Twofer GD
