Hello, crafting friends!
I am one of those people that likes my house to reflect the season. My living room is pretty neutral, with cream walls, sofas and curtains and a wooden floor with jute rugs. I change the pictures, cushions and throws according to the season and add little vases and ornaments as and when I'm inspired. In the spring and summer, I have the most gorgeous watercolour effect cushion covers and they have inspired my card today.
This happy little number was made with a floral stencil from Funky Fossil that I was given by my kind and generous friend Sandie. I wondered whether I could use watercolours with it and had SO much fun trying! It's not perfect but that's more my inexperience than anything else, and I'll definitely try this technique again.
I used bright, happy colours and added a sentiment from Stampin' Up's Waterfront and a little heart embellishment.
Would you like to see the cushions that inspired this card?
Aren't they pretty?!
CHALLENGES
The Allsorts challenge is celebrating its 12th birthday with prizes this week and wants to see bright, happy colours; I think this card fits the bill! I'm also linking up with the Time Out Challenge where the inspiration must be something in your house (I haven't gone for the optional twist of embossing for this one.) Addicted to Stamps and More has a Make Your Mark challenge so I'm joining in there too.
AND IN OTHER NEWS
Summer has arrived in the heart of England and everyone is giddy with the pleasure of wandering about outside with half their usual amount of garments on!! I am typing this in the evening and the smell of barbecue is wafting through the open French doors :)
Love the cushions that inspired your beautiful card the stencil is beautiful
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pillows and Gorgeous watercolored stenciled card, Vicky. TFS both. Enjoy your warm Summer days, my friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteYour card is even more beautiful than your cushions, which are so pretty. I too am enjoying the sunshine and birdsong, hope the barbecue was delicious (assume it was yours and not the neighbours?!) xxx
ReplyDeleteLovely cushions which have inspired a gorgeous and vibrant card.
ReplyDeleteHappy summer! Bring it on!!!!

It never fails to amazed me where we can find inspiration Vicky and in reality it's never far from home, a lovely card to reflect those rather pretty cushions.
ReplyDeleteI actually ordered some new ones last week, they arrived Monday and two are huuuuge, like two feet square, I called John Lewis who in turn called me back and apologised that the dimensions on their website was wrong.
Could return, but one of the Granddaughters has just moved into her first house with four rather large bedrooms to fill and happily offered to take them off my hands.
Before I go, my thanks for your kind words of support over the 'issue' this week, much appreciated.

Gorgeous stencil and you've made it look wonderful with all the fab bright colours. At first I thought it was your own print as your cushions do look very similar! Thank you for joining in with our 12th Birthday celebrations at Allsorts.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card Vicky - I was looking longingly at almost the same cushions in a local fabric shop window the other day on my way to have a hair chop! First outing like that for ages.

SO very Beautiful Vicky, I love the watercolour effect you achieved. As for the inspiration colours on the beautiful cushions WOW! Love them. I have never gone with seasons, but I can see what a change it would bring to your environment. So lovely.

I love this watercoloring, Vicky! An amazing use of a stencil! Your cushions are so summery and pretty too!
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful, as indeed are the inspirational cushions and indeed the couch xoxo
ReplyDeletewell I am happy to say that this is now on my coffee table and is looking stunning-a huge thank you. And wow to it looking so close to the cushion. And I think you did one amazing colouring with the watercolours, the colours blend so well together-it is hard to di with different colours and I just can't do it! And the perfect finishing touch is the placement of the sentiment-perfect and the little heart, also placed just right-it is these tiny touches that are so hard to get right but you cracked it here...oh and fab to see you at Time Out-I may not be there but still love to see you playing along x
ReplyDeleteOh, this is so lovely! Looks beautiful, Vicky! Love the watercolour!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Conny
