Hello crafting pals!
After yesterday's disastrous card I decided to try to make something decent using my pseudo Beautiful You stamps (I'd found what I thought was a bargain Beautiful You stamp set online that turned out NOT to be the Stampin' Up set at all, but a smaller scale copy. Won't make that mistake again!)
One of the things that made me want to play with Beautiful You was that I could see how easily you could take the hats and umbrellas off the ladies, which would make them more versatile. Come and see what I've made today:
This elegant lady was once a 50s throwback but now she's sassing her way into the 21st century! I inked up the middle part of the stamp with a Basic Grey marker and stamped it onto white card stock, and then again on a piece of DSP. Using the marker, I extended the dress on the DSP to make it long and swishy, snipped it out and glued it to the card stock image. Gold thread makes a pretty belt.
I used a fineliner to doodle in the rest of the face and hair, then added fair skin tones with a blender pen and Petal Pink ink. I imagine her to be a terrible diva - "Cecil darling, do be a angel and find me some champagne. I have a frightful headache!"
My lady is leaning gracefully against a background made with some of my large collection of washi tape. I finished the card with an appropriate sentiment and a sprinkling of gold sequins. She seems very tall doesn't she? I expect she's wearing platform shoes under her frock!
Although my stamps aren't the right size, you could certainly use the proper stamps in this way. I'd love to see your version if you fancy giving it a try!
AND IN OTHER NEWS
I went to a party yesterday evening dressed in a pink trouser suit with a white blouse. My hostess came to greet me. "I saw someone arrive in pink," she said, "and thought: a marshmallow has come to my party!"

Very clever Vicky - I’m loving your collection of sassy ladies! A great way to use up wash I tape too - I’ve got loads of the stuff yet rarely use it! As for the party hostess - I hope she was a friend with a sense of humour, otherwise she needs a lesson or two in politeness!
ReplyDeleteHa Ha, she's a good friend Joanne, with a dodgy sense of humour just like mine! x
DeleteAnother beauty, as I'm sure you were in the suit... not at all like a marshmallow xoxo
ReplyDeleteBut marshmallows are gorgeous Em! x
ReplyDeleteVery clever use of this stamp, Vicky! I love that long dress and the clever hair style! Great way to use Washi tape too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bonnie - and the more ways we can think of to use washi tape the better!
DeleteA Beautiful and elegant card Vicky.
ReplyDeleteFaith x
She'd like to think she is...not sure if Cecil agrees! x
