Hello crafting friends!
Just Us Girls is celebrating 500 fabulous challenges this week with a fun theme - Circles!
I've been inspired by the new Waffle Flower Big Dots die I'm seeing all over Blogland at the moment. I am currently without a die cutting machine but I wondered if I could get a similar effect using a 3/4" circle punch.
It involved a lot of measuring and careful positioning of the punch but I'm pleased with the result! Strips of card stock in various shades of pink were positioned at the back of the panel so they showed through the punched holes.

The panel was split so that I could stamp the sentiment on the card base between the circles and the card was finished with some gold elastic thread from my stash.
This card reminds me of those lovely lip and cheek palettes you get at the beauty counters in department stores. I'm always attracted to them until I realise that the colours look great in the palette but will make me look like a clown! And anyway, I'd rather have a new stamp set :D

Hope you've had a lovely weekend. There'll be more crafting going on here during the week so do pop in and see what I've been up to!
Hi Vicky
ReplyDeleteThat's what I. Missed your fabulous cards...
love fabulous... and a simple punch...
hugs Sylvie xx
You are kind Sylvie! xx
DeleteLove your pretty ombré of pinks Vicky - your card is needed reminiscent of a makeup palette. Funny anecdote for you: my eldest, when much younger, once spent ages perusing the makeup palettes at the beauty counter in a department store, whilst I went to the nearby till to pay for something. I returned to find her sat in the chair being cleaned up by an assistant, as she looked like she’d been down a coal mine - apparently she wondered what would happen if she blew onto the eyeshadows and her curiosity got the better of her!! Instant clown face!! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHaha, love this story Joanne :) I remember being on a ferry en route to Ireland and my youngest son coming back from the perfumery smelling like a boudoir!
ReplyDeleteOH! I wouldn't even attempt the measuring of the punched circles so I can only be amazed at your result of this so pretty card Vicky. It sounds like you are having a ball being back at crafting.
ReplyDeleteFaith x
You're so right Faith, I'm having a whale of a time! The thing is, it's so easy to fit a quick card in between doing other things - VERY therapeutic! x
DeleteThis is so pretty, Vicky xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks! xx
DeleteThis is so simple and pretty, yes reminds me of the blusher palettes as well... I too used to end up looking like Aunt Sally from Worzel Gummidge !!!
ReplyDeleteHaving met you Jenny, I know this is NOT true! x
ReplyDeleteIt probably would have been easier to punch the colors but I love the look of them under the circle and your card does look like it came from the make-up counter, Vicky. It's lovely and perfect for our challenge. Thanks for sharing it with us at Just Us Girls.
ReplyDeleteAh, but it wouldn't have had the same effect! Maybe the photos aren't clear, but the recesses are what makes it work :)
