Hello crafting pals!
Writing the title of this post made me laugh like a paper bag but I have mastered myself now, so let's get on and have a look at some cards. Yes, that's right, not just one but TWO cards today!
If you can hear me sighing, it's because I really wouldn't mind being on either of those peaceful looking islands. They were both created with Stampin' Up's Waterfront set, a real favourite of mine.
This one layer card was made for AAA cards' challenge where they want clean and simple cards made in minutes with an optional summer theme. I didn't time it, but it was really fast! The background is literally five stampings:
1. Stamp the water in Balmy Blue
2. Clean the stamp, turn it over, stamp the sand in So Saffron
3. Stamp the palm trunks in Soft Suede
4. Stamp the palm leaves in Old Olive
5. Stamp the sun in So Saffron
The part that took the longest was getting out my Concorde and 9th Enjoy it All set, and inking up the word 'enjoy' with a Basic Black marker. A huff and a stamp and the card was done!
I made the second card because I suddenly realised that tropical islands could be construed as nautical (thanks Darnell!) which meant I could join in with this month's Twofer Challenge! Yay!
I started this one off with the sentiment (from a long-ago retired Stampin' Up set, Hello You), added the sand and the trees and layered on the 'wavy sea' paper.
I wanted to underline the sea with a card stock strip in the Shaded Spruce colour I'd used for the palm leaves but I didn't have any. I swiped my ink pad across the bottom of the card front instead and topped it with the paper. Canny eh?
Here are the challenge details and - oh look! I've missed the deadline for AAA Cards! Now that's not like me is it?! *slinks off dejectedly*

Oh, I love these very simple and evocative. Makes me want to be on a nice warm dessert island all by myself! xx
ReplyDeleteWith a pina colada and a good book... oh I know what you mean!
DeleteOoh! I love both of these tropical island cards! And now I want to be there. LOL!
ReplyDeleteWell ok then, come and join Hilary and me! Bring some ice!
DeleteOh my gosh, Vicky, I am so happy to see you back again. I missed you and your wonderful stories of your family and Eva. I'm so sorry you were ill but glad you are healthy and crafting again. I'm happy you posted on my blog and your cards are so cute, even with limited supplies. That's the best part of crafting - buying new "stuff". A big welcome back from me.
ReplyDeleteHello Brenda! I really enjoyed visiting your blog but didn't know if you'd remember me. It's lovely to see you here and thanks for your warm welcome :) I'm very much enjoying the shopping and am trying really hard to pace myself!
DeleteThese CAS lovelies are such fun! So nice to see them in the gallery, thanks for playing along at Twofer Card Challenge #19.
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous cards, they have a real tropical feel. I'm very impressed that you used the same stamp for the sand and the sea, what a neat trick!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that a versatile stamp?! It could be almost anything!
DeleteWish I was relaxing on that beach too! Fabulous cards and super palm tree stamp xx
ReplyDeleteHilary and Chris and I are just having a virtual party there and you're welcome to join us! Just bring some snacks!
DeleteLaughing like a paper bag????? How does that go then? I never knew paper bags laughed! Have I been missing something all these years? LOL!
ReplyDeleteTwo superb CAS cards Vicky. Love them. x
YOU know! All creased up and kind of gusty and wheezy!
DeleteAre you coming to the beach party? Can you bring orange slices? x
Voila . . . Here's the orange slices . . . And some ice cream . ... And a paddling pool. I came prepared! Xxx
DeleteAhhh, pass me a Magnum! Did you hear that there were sharks in the ocean?! xxx
DeleteBoth cards are beautiful and I could definitely join you on that island right now xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks Em! Come on over in the handy rowing boat :)
DeleteWith a rainy as we have today, these barmy sea and beach scenes are just what I need. Fabulous cards Vicky.
ReplyDeleteFaith x
They're barmy alright Faith - and no mac required! Bonus! x
DeleteJust my sort of islands too Vicky ... ocean lapping against soft sand ... palm trees for a little shade ... and long cool drinks just out of sight (so they stay frosty!!). A fabulous, wonderfully CAS Twofer ... thanks so much for playing along with us! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteWe've got a whole party going on now Anita - come on over! :)
DeleteNow I don't feel so bad, Vicky. When I read your sentence about AAA, I got becited because my CTS card in my last post was perfect for it, so off I went to check it out, only to slink off dejectedly when I discovered I'd missed it! So you're not alone in waking up to find an entire Tuesday was stolen from your week!
ReplyDeleteBut that's not why you called. I love your CASlicious island cards and I'm joining the rest of you in my mumu! Love the big impact of what I like to call your QACAS (quick and clean and simple) cards! And, yes, you are a canny clever girl with that edge treatment! Thank you so much for taking my hint and playing in Twofer Card Challenge #19! Mwah! Hugs, Darnell
Mwah back! Also, do you have a spare mumu I can borrow? Ive no idea what it is but it sounds comfy :)
DeleteIf anyone can join you on your island, I'd like to come, too! And I can make a pretty darn good strawberry daiquiri, or if you'd like, a good old gin and lemonade! Awesome cards Vicky! I love the restful feeling that both cards give, and the colors are pretty and oh so summery. That bit of patterned paper on your second card is perfect, and I love that you've inked the bottom of your base so as to be matchy-matchy! Clever, clever, clever! I just might have to borrow your design, with all its quickness, from your first card and see what I have in my stash. Two fabulous cards. Love these. Thank you so much for sharing with us at the Twofer Challenge. Bev
ReplyDeleteAnyone called Happy Dance is welcome to come Bev - with or without strawberry daiquiris! Thank you for your kind words :) I'm loving the Twofer challenge!
DeleteRoom for one more, Vicky? I'd certainly love a stay at either of these lovely islands. You have such a gift for gorgeous CAS designs that are both striking and stylish.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Hugs
Carol x
