Hello crafting pals!
Oh those snippets! They do mount up don't they? But here's a festive way of using up some of those bits of card stock that have been trimmed off larger projects - AND it uses up some of the washi tape mountain that we've all got in our stash! Come and see:
I started this card by making a washi tape frame on the card base. Next, I used Stampin' Up Melon Mambo ink and my Uniko Winter Foliage set to stamp a fir branch onto a scrap bit of card stock. It had bits of a blue background on the back but *whispers* no-one need know!
I huffed on the stamp to reinvigorate the ink and stamped it again, this time directly on the card base. The image on the scrap card was cut out - and although I like fussy cutting, I don't recommend it for this intricate branch! Luckily Bev at Uniko has just released dies that coordinate with this brilliant stamp set - YAY!
Look how glittery the baubles look in the photo above! They're SO hard to photograph but in real life, they have more of a subtle shimmer, as in the photo below:
I made them using circle punches and scraps of pink card stock. I snipped a tiny bit of the punched surround to make the hanging part. The baubles were decorated with stamped snowflakes (from Stampin' Up's Endless Wishes, retired), shaded with alcohol markers and finished with a sparkly layer of clear Wink of Stella. I hung my baubles from the fir branches with 'string' drawn with a fine grey marker and a ruler and finished the card with gems and a Uniko greeting.
If you are a regular at my blog, you'll know why I'm making pink Christmas cards: Stephanie and Lauren at Jingle Belles are donating $2 each to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation for every card linked up to their Pink Christmas challenge this fortnight and I think that's worth supporting. They want lots of entrants for this challenge so do join in!
I shall also link my card up with the wonderful Pixie's Snippets Playground as I've been a good little womble and used up lots of snippets on this card!
AND IN OTHER NEWS
All this crafting in pink reminds me of the song and dance routine to Think Pink from Funny Face. Do you know it? It is so wonderfully stylish! I'll add it here for your enjoyment :)

Hugs,
Just back from retreat and trying to catch up. This is so pretty, Vicky. I love the pink decorated ornaments and the border. Pink is not a color I look good in but I do love a soft pink for tops.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I hope you had a lovely time at the retreat Brenda! I know what you mean about soft pinks - somehow more of a neutral than those Barbie type pinks!
DeleteCan't say I use much pink in my cards, but, as I was watching your video and THINKING PINK . . . I remembered that I have some pink Xmas paper . . . So you have inspired me to make a festive card and join in with the challenge! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteBTW . . . I adore your sparkly festive bauble card. It's gorgeous.
Happy Saturday.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
That's great Sarn - I know the Jingle Belles ladies will be delighted to see your pink card and me too!
DeleteHappy Saturday to you too :)

I like pink, Vicky, especially on Christmas cards! It's unexpected and fun at Christmastime! Love your pink branches and baubles! The Washi tape frame works perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bonnie! I agree that unexpected colours can be fun on Christmas cards and gift wrap and remember one year being very excited over a black wrapping paper with a bright foliage and berry design :)
DeleteI love this card Vicky! Great way you made the baubles and I adore pink! My Mum generally dressed me in pretty shades of blue as I had bright blue eyes as a kid. So am making up for it now :) Lovely to see you becoming a regular in the Playground - we'll get you to babysit Dudley sometime!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Di xx
Well this card could have been tailor-made for you then Di! I used to get clothes in beautiful autumnal shades for my daughter who has glorious auburn hair, and as a young teen buying her own clothes, she went for all the pinks and lilacs! She's back to the autumnal shades in her twenties but I'm glad she had the chance to try all the colours! xx
DeleteGreat card, Vicky! A number of my friends' favorite color is pink, so I'm using it a lot more than I used to for happy mail for them. On that note, what's your favorite color? xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely idea Em! It's hard for me to pick a favourite colour - I love all colour and find it very exciting to combine them - but if pushed I would say green, the colour of nature!
DeleteMarisela Delgado said: Hola, Vicky! My favorite color is purple, but for some reason I just LOVE hot pink. Not for clothing, but in paper and decorations. Pink is nice, though. People tell me I look good in pink so good for you draping yourself in it. I don't know if the tv show "Happy Days" made it to the U.K. (The Fonz??), but it was based in the 1950's and kids were in gangs. They were more like clubs, nothing like the criminal gangs now, but the girls called themselves the Pink Ladies. AND they wore nothing but pink. ha-ha So, good for you, Pink Lady. (laughing) much love to you, Marisela (Mari)
ReplyDeleteWell pink is quite close to purple isn't it, so not surprising you should love it. I do remember Happy Days vaguely, but we all loved the Fonz! I don't remember there being Pink Ladies in it, although there were in the film Grease that we were all crazy for in the 80s! Those songs! The vintage style!
DeleteSending hugs Mari,
x
Marisela Delgado said: Hola, Vicky- you're right. The Pink Ladies were in Grease. I was thinking of Fonzi's girlfriend Pinky Toscadero, who wore nothing but PINK. ha-ha She and her friends all wore pink. ha-ha muchos abrazos para ti/many hugs back to you, my friend, Mari
DeleteGoodness, I don't remember Pinky. I do remember that the Fonz used to say 'Hello Shortcake' to someone - probably Richie Cunningham's little sister! Thank you for teaching me Spanish Mari (although I'm not a very good student!) x
DeleteI've never heard that song ... how fun! ... always glad when you join us at Jingle Belles going PINK for a Cure. Absolutely lovely card design ... and very clever way to use those paper scraps.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very dated and totally non-pc film I'm afraid but if you can overlook that, it's SO stylish and with great song and dance routines!
Deleteyet another AMAZING card! i really want to make something with PINK foliage now! thanks very much for helping us celebrate PINK CHRISTMAS (once more) at JINGLE BELLES! ♥ (& thanks for reminding me how much i love the movie FUNNY FACE!)
ReplyDeleteThank you both for fundraising for Breast Cancer Research. Glad to have reminded you of the movie :)
