Hello crafting friends
I do hope that everyone that is staying home is allowing themselves to enjoy crafting. In a crisis, there's often nothing that can be done but wait, and crafting is definitely an activity that can reduce anxiety.
To celebrate some stray sunshine, which felt pretty springlike to me, I've made a couple of cards involving *lowers voice to a whisper in case Eva pup overhears* rabbits! Come and see:
CARD ONE
This one is my favourite - an Easter card featuring two peeping rabbits from Waffle Flower's Books and Coffee, a set I saw when I was looking for something else and which I couldn't resist! Does that ever happen to you?!
The rabbits are sort of peek-a-boo bookend rabbits. I mounted them on the same block, stamped them, coloured them with alcohol markers. It was easiest to fussy cut them as one unit and from there, I could just cut down the middle to separate them.
My bunnies needed some Great Outdoors to live in so I die cut a stitched rectangle, using a Heffy Doodles die, and sponged in a sky and some grass. They are trying to carry a very large Easter egg which I cut out of some pretty retired Stampin' Up paper I'd beenhoarding saving for this very moment! The egg is tied up with blue card stock 'ribbon' topped with a bow from an MFT die set called Birthday Cocktail which I've wanted for ages, just for this bow!
I LOVE this sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Easter Party and know I'll be using it all year round. Not the 'Easter' part obviously, but the 'Wishing You A Very Happy' bit! I stamped the word Easter in coral ink to link the greeting to the egg.
CARD TWO
I've been thinking for a while that it would be fun to have an animal peeping out from the umbrella from Stampin' Up's Under My Umbrella stamp set. Here was my chance to coax one of these rabbits in there!
I stamped one corner of a square panel with my peeping rabbit and then extended him with a marker before colouring him. If that sounds complicated, it wasn't at all - I just made him symmetrical. I gave him a subtle background by using a soft grey pencil through a stencil made with a circle punch (but you can barely see that.) The panel was scored round the edges for a neat finish.
Time for the brolly! I stamped the umbrella pole directly over the bunny then stamped the canopy in grey on a separate scrap of card stock. I gave it a pretty flower design, cut it out using the coordinating punch, and popped it up to look as if the rabbit was sitting in there. Final details were a punched handle and a tiny sentiment.
EDITED TO ADD AN AWARD
I was delighted to be honourably mentioned at the Twofer Card Challenge for this pair of cards!
CHALLENGES
I shall be linking both these cards up with the Twofer Card Challenge, where Spring Animals are the theme and we are asked to make two cards of different designs, for different occasions, using the same stamp or die;
With Card One I'm linking up with two new-to me challenges - The Sisterhood of Crafters where Easter is the theme and Creative Inspirations where it's Pretty Pastels.
With Card Two, I'm playing along with Less is More where there's a delicious looking colour palette of Red, Raspberry and Grey.
AND IN OTHER NEWS
The news from around the world is heartbreaking. I'm lucky enough to have a beautiful fluffy companion that makes me feel better every time I look at her, so I'm sharing.
This is what happens when you wake Eva from a nice snooze. "Oh hello. Are you bringing me a snack? Or perhaps you fancy a walk? Or a game? Oh. It's just a photograph. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz!"
Take care,

Take care,
Thanks for sharing your lovely fluffy girl with us to spread cheer.
ReplyDeleteFab twofers. Perfect Spring cards xxx
They seriously do say that looking at pictures of cute animals are good for lowering stress levels. Eva definitely lowers mine (unless she's stealing doughnuts from teenagers that is...!)
DeleteTwo really super cards, with such cute images.
ReplyDeleteKath x
Those bunnies are cute aren't they! x
DeleteGreat Spring cards Vicky!
ReplyDeleteSpring cards are my favourites I think :)
DeleteAll three of your fluffy bunnies (and your fluffy pup) are just adorable! I love that DSP you've created your egg from...I am hoarding (ahem) it too!
ReplyDeleteUs and a whole army of other dsp hoarders I think LeAnne! I've only got a tiny bit left so I'm quite miserly with it!
DeleteBeautiful bunnies! your making me want that SU umbrella set ~ I too am thankful for my crafts and hoard of supplies ~ Stay well and give Eva a hug for me..and a walk and a biscuit!!
ReplyDeleteI know Karen, we are very lucky with our crafting and our pups. Stay well too x
DeleteIt does have a feel of Spring to it today although the wind is a tad chilly.
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased you are crafting and sharing such pretty Easter cards, admit I've not made a single one yet but need to for the Grandchildren at least.
Happy to know it's not only my spoilt girls who have their own sofa and the terrier has her own rocking chair in the conservatory - don't all terriers?
B x
This was my first Easter card but I'll be making more because it was fun to use these kinds of images and colours :)
DeleteLol - if I had a terrier, a conservatory rocking chair would be in place from the start! A sofa is Eva's preferred bed but she always asks if she may get up on it bless her (unless I'm not there, in which case she just goes ahead!) x
I just love both of these cards, Vicky. Those buns are adorable. I love that bun in the umbrella. What a great idea. Love that you made the card a square shape and I love that scored frame. Be well, and thanks so much for playing with us at Less Is More!
ReplyDeleteI love that you call rabbits buns Stephanie! You be well too :)
DeleteWhat sweet cards, Vicky! That patterned paper egg is beautiful, and so fun with those two peeking from behind it! Popping the bunny into the umbrella just ups the cuteness factor off the charts! I love your floral umbrella! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!
ReplyDeleteWell thanks for the fun challenge Kara! And for your kind words :)
DeleteThe cards and Eva are so cute! xoxo
ReplyDeleteAw thanks Em. I'm trying to cheer people up with pics of Eva :)
Deletexx
Oh my, what a cute pair of cards using those adorable bunnies! I love the big patterned egg with a bow and that cutie looks adorable inside the umbrella! Super fun cards, great job on them both!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carol! Great twofer fun!
DeleteAbsolutely adorable and fun too.
ReplyDeleteFaith x
Those little rabbits are full of mischief! x
DeleteTwo adorable cards Vicky. Those bunnies are so sweet with their easter egg and I love the design of the second with the bunny holding his umbrella xx
ReplyDeleteAw thanks Andrea! I think they're going to be getting up to all sorts of antics :)
Deletexx
Two splendid twofers, love the bunny/brolly entry for the LIM challenge
ReplyDeleteKathyk
Thanks Kathy! Don't know how he got in that brolly but it can't be comfy can it?!
DeleteYou sure have well trained bunnies in your neck of the woods, Vicky ... they're adorable on both cards! That huge Easter egg (yum!) is so pretty against the spring scene you created ... and how fun to have the bunnies carrying it! Your bunny-in-a-brolly is deliciously cute and CAS ... who wouldn't want a floral brolly like that one! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteThey are certainly not well trained Anita - they caused mayhem when I was trying to make those cards! :D
DeleteSuper cute~cute cards and so creative!!
ReplyDeleteDiane {Nellies Nest}
Thanks Diane :)
DeleteLove your DSP egg with the bunnies peeking around it! So adorable! Thank you for sharing with the Sisterhood of Crafter's "Easter" challenge this week!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the challenge Katy - it was new to me but I will be back!
DeleteI had to go back up and look at the cards again, Vicky, ... you know that happens every time you end with Eva and previous thoughts of anything else fly right out of my mind as soon as the first aaaah escapes my lips! Thank you, God, for dogs!
ReplyDeleteYour clean and crisp bunny designs are perfect for this month! I love how you separated your Siamese bunnies, making them perfectly fitting and symmetrical for your beribboned egg! I love the pp you chose and agree with you about the lovely sediment! And your square second design is so clever with the scored frame and a gray hare sitting smack dab in a beautiful upside down brolly! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #25! Take care!! 😷 Hugs, Darnell
I totally agree about dogs Darnell and I have the same distraction when you end your post with a pic of Nellie! Thanks for keeping us all cheerful :)
DeleteOh what fun and sweet creations Vicky! Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Sisterhood of Crafters challenge! Good Luck and we hope you’ll come back often.
