Easter tulips

Hello crafting friends!

Aren't spring and Easter cards fun to make with all those gorgeous colours and spring images! We were planning a lovely family get-together this year but sadly that's not going to be possible, so I shall be spreading some love by post instead.

This card was mostly made from bits and pieces from the snippets box. The tulips (Spring Tulips by Clearly Besotted) were a practice piece, using watercolour crayons and a bit of water; I just had to add a sponged sky and die cut it with a stitched label die from The Works.

The label turned into a tag with the addition of hole reinforcer made with a couple of circle punches. I tied it up with some 'ribbon' which was die cut from a snippet of designer paper using a die from MFT's Birthday Cocktail.

The tulip tag was mounted onto a pink panel, also from the snippets box, that had been cut with a Heffy Doodles stitched rectangle die. Before attaching it to the card base, I added a greeting from Lawn Fawn's Easter Party and a sprinkling of gems.

EDITED TO ADD AN AWARD
So pleased this card got a special mention at Inspire Create!

CHALLENGES
I shall be linking this card up with The Paper Players, where Joanne has come up with a Tic Tac Toe challenge this week - I've chosen the Pink, Spring, Patterned Paper line; I'm also playing along at As You See It, where there's a fun card recipe and you have to add all the elements to your creation; Easter is the theme at Inspire Create and I'm joining in there too.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
One of the things I love about my little dog Eva is how she joins in with the family. When we stood on the doorstep to applaud the heroes of our NHS last night, she came out too and bunny hopped as we clapped. She potters about with me in the house, fetching the mail, proudly handing me socks and smalls as I load the washing machine, and 'helping' in the garden. She has also learned that the sigh I make when I sit on the sofa with a cup of tea means contentment and she makes the same noise back at me. She is truly my golden treasure.

I'm trying to post more pictures of Eva while we're living with this horrible virus because they say looking at photos helps people deal with stress and anxiety. You're welcome!

Hugs,

  1. Your card is gorgeous, Vicky, but I confess that today I'm here more for Eva! She's so gorgeous and sounds like the perfect mix of goofball and sweetheart. I feel the same way about my Chica as you do about Eva and I love the phrase My golden treasure. Have a lovely day and give Eva some ear scratches or belly rubs from (whichever she prefers). :)

    1. Ear scratches, belly rubs... she's an 'any attention at all' kind of girl Jen! And if there would happen to be a tiny bit of cheese going, well she's your slave :D I call her My Golden Treasure when she's a good girl but when she's been up to mischief she's The Beige Beast!!

  2. I think dogs themselves help us deal with stress and anxiety, I find mine very sensitive to knowing things aren't as they should be and their whole demeanour gives us added strength.

I was just saying to another blogger that it's going to be a very strange Easter this year and just hope the weather is kind. I love the pretty pastel colours of your lovely card.

    1. Oh they certainly do Brenda - don't know what I'd do without my girl. It is going to be a strange Easter isn't it, but I'm getting the bunting up and have just sorted out an Easter tree. They can see it on Skype! x

  6. Your tulip tag is such a breath of spring Vicky and so pretty against the pink background. This virus really is rubbish isn't it? Your card is a lovely way to send some Easter thoughts and as for Eva - well, she is enough to brighten anyone's day! Thanks for playing Tic-Tac-Toe with us over at The Paper Players and at As You See It this week!

    1. Oh bless him. It's hard these days to have a dog as most people are out all or most of the day. Dogs really do best when there's someone with them most of the time :)

    1. Thanks Jaydee. Eva has such a sweet little face doesn't she, and lots of funny expressions! To be a part of a whole nation applauding the NHS felt very moving. I can't get over how brave and tireless these people are. x

  14. Isn't it funny how dogs learn so much from us like sighing? I have a Labrador and a Lab/Border Collie mix. They both have learned to make stretching noises when getting up from me, which I find amusing. The Lab has a right, he's almost 13, but the mix sounds like she's ancient but she's only 1 year old! 😁 I have to share a story... I tried to teach her to get the mail last week. She did great, grabbing the local newspaper from the box and happily trotting the yard with it. She must have decided it was wrapping paper, as she quickly plopped down and tore it to shreds with me laughing my butt off so hard I couldn't stop her. We'll keep working on it! LOL

    1. Oh they sound wonderful Karen! Bless your little lab/collie cross, she has plenty of time to learn at one year old! Eva used to do exactly the same. She eventually learned that she had to bring it to me rather than kill it and was very good - apart from padded envelopes which she couldn't resist! But now (she's 5) she is Angel Dog!
