Hello crafting pals!
The cards I make are stored in a large drawer, divided into occasions. Some will be sent later in the year, some are 'just in case' cards, lots are note cards and thank you cards. They build up as you can imagine so, today, fired up with spring cleaning fervour, I went through them with my ruthless hat on and got rid of all the ones I didn't really like. I saved toppers, embellishments and bits of card bases and ended up with a huge pile of snippets. Can you guess what I did next?
Of course, I made a card! And for those of you struggling with mojo issues, I recommend it! This card was all made with tiny off cuts except the card base. The glittery bit was white originally, but I coloured it with an alcohol marker then mounted it on a snippet of black card stock trimmed to fit.
The flowers are from Clearly Besotted's Pretty Pansies, stamped on a small piece of white card stock, coloured with alcohol markers and fussy cut.
Gems taken off the discarded cards decorate the centre of the flowers. They had lost their stickiness but were easily attached with a glue pen. I added a sentiment from Uniko's Simply Said, again stamped on a tiny scrap of white card stock and snipped out.
Ta-da! I'm much happier with this card than any of those rubbish cards I chucked in the recycle bin!
EDITED TO ADD AN AWARD
I'm so happy that this card was a winner at CAS Colours and Sketches!
CHALLENGES
Of course I shall join everyone in The Snippet Playground with this card, but I shall also link up at The Paper Players, where Sparkle is the theme, and CAS Colours and Sketches where I was SO inspired by the fabulous colours this week!
AND IN OTHER NEWS
Eva is enjoying everyone being less busy. I have been playing games with her as we used to when she was younger and there weren't loads of dogs around. Her favourite games are scent games that involve food, so I've been hiding treats in cardboard boxes, or wrapped in several layers of newspaper, or deep in the middle of one of her dog towels etc. She LOVES this - I think it replicates the excitement of hunting in the wild!
Here she is having discovered something yummy in an egg box! It took her a while to get it open but it isn't easy if you don't have opposable thumbs!

I've done that too Vicky-what's the point of keeping cards you'll never send, when you can take parts and make something you WILL use! This turned out so pretty with the blue sparkle and those lovely blooms. As always, thank you for joining us at The Paper Players this week!
ReplyDeleteIt was quite the light bulb moment for me I can tell you! Thanks Stef :)

Thanks Sarn! I think Eva would probably have preferred to find actual eggs in that box...!

You are the queen of snippets - I love the sparkly blue square, it sets off those yellow blooms a treat. Sparkly CAS perfection! Love that Eva is enjoying hide and seek - I'm sure it will keep her young!! Thanks for playing along with us over at The Paper Players this week!
ReplyDeleteLol, not sure about that Joanne. I was just thinking that generating a load of new snippets probably isn't the right idea at all! Golden Retrievers stay puppies all their lives <3
DeleteOh, you are so energetic (as I look at the mess that continues to pile up on my desk!!!) to go through your stock and de-stash!! Great to use up those little bits and bobs to make this fabulous creation! LOVE those bright colors! Thanks for sharing this with us at the Players this week!
ReplyDeleteThanks LeAnne, it's just that I seem to have a bit of time on my hands at the moment...! Aren't those colours gorgeous? Shout out to CAS Colours and Sketches for those :)

ReplyDeleteOh I do love your Playgroud posts Vicky - and any others I find time to see. Isn't Eva gorgeous? They do light up our lives beyond what we ever could imagine. LOVE your upcycling of a ditched card - I never thought to do that and I have some that are prime candidates as well. Clever sausage!

What a fabulous idea! I too store my cards and end up with WAAAAY to many to use. Your card is awesome - and I love how you colored the glitter piece to go with the challenge! Thank you for playing along with us at CC&S!
ReplyDeleteThe yellow pansies really pop against the sparkly blue background! Fabulous card, Vicky! Thanks for sharing it with us at CC&S! :)
ReplyDeleteMy girls are back again this week, great to see you. I love the front center cheerful yellow pansy! Love the sparkle of the blue background as well. That sounds like a super fun game to play with Eva - I may need to incorporate that during the day for my 3. Though, I suspect, one fur baby in particular would probably find them all! So great to see you two again this week, thanks for playing along with us this week at CC&S
