A Whale of a time with papers

Hello crafting friends!

Today I am delighted to be guest designing with the TicTacToe Challenge which inspires crafters weekly via the power of Tic Tac Toe! I love this because it really gives your mojo a kickstart. Here's this week's board:

You can choose any line going across, down or diagonally - I chose the middle row down: Blue, Patterned Paper and Water. Come and see:

One of my favourite things to do with designer paper, is to cut elements out of it and create a unique scene. The papers I used today are long-ago retired Stampin' Up papers. They were favourites of mine, so I don't have much left, but this is a great way to use up the snippets :) I managed to find a large enough snippet of the water design for two thirds of a card panel. I made up the rest with a snippet of plain card stock in the same colour, and linked the two with a left-over frame which had been cut using two Heffy Doodles stitched rectangle dies.

The whale was fussy cut out of one paper and its spout from another. I tucked him into the water paper before glueing everything down and allowed his tail to spill out over the frame.

The sentiment was made with Uniko's Simply Said Blocks and MFT's Little Letters dies - and oh, it's meant from the heart. I finished the card with a little star fish from the whale paper.

So now it's your turn. One look at that Tic Tac Toe board and I bet there are millions of ideas floating around your head! I'm looking forward to seeing what you make - don't forget to link up here.

CHALLENGES
I made quite a dent in my designer paper stash with this card, not to mention little bits and pieces of card stock, so I shall join in at the Snippets Playground. I'm also joining in with Happy Little Stampers Die challenge where Anything Goes.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
I think we can all relate to this card a bit. No virtual hug is big enough is it?

Be safe.

  1. Well of course I am excited that you are a GD at Tic-tac-toe this week, but I never thought to cut out these images separately for a card! DUH! I do have some of this paper left and I think I might just have to CASE your fun idea! I love it!!

    1. If that whale was a stamp I would buy it in an instant but cutting it out is the next best thing. Of course you have these papers lol!

  3. I really like how you have the whale and the water extending past the frame ~ It's visually fun. My oldest daughter came home and it was soooo nice to give her a big hug :)

  10. This is brilliant, Vicky! Such a clever way to get more use out of patterned papers. I need to go and have a look at more of my 12x12s now...

    1. I know - it can be fun, although you do have to like fussy cutting. I hear SU does papers that coordinate with punches and dies now, although that does slightly take the fun out of it!
