Hello crafting friends!
So, it's the summer, the season of hot sunny days, ripening those delicious sweet berries... Well that's what's supposed to be happening anyway! I'm just embittered because Eva and I got caught in a heavy shower earlier on and got soaked! Here are the summer berries of my dreams:
These strawberries are from Sweet Berries by Clearly Besotted and I thought I'd give them the watercolour treatment today. The berry image was stamped onto watercolour paper with Stazon ink, and I used Stampin' Up inks for the watercolouring. Once it was completely dry, I cut it into a panel with a Heffy Doodles stitched rectangle die.
For the background, I painted a square (ish!) at an angle which grounds the image nicely. The 'berry' part of the punning sentiment comes from the same set as the strawberries but the 'thank you' and the 'much' are from Concorde and 9th's Beautiful Branches - I love making my own sentiments out of different ones :)
CHALLENGES
I was totally inspired by Narelle's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week so I'll link up there; I'm also joining in with Addicted to CAS, where the code word is Berry; There are lots of watercolour layers on this card which I'm entering at Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
I was so pleased that people were interested in my fresh fruit 'ice cream' recipe (click here and scroll down to 'AND IN OTHER NEWS'). Did you try it? I made it again the other day and remembered to photograph it this time!
I took a leaf out of my youngest son's book and decorated my dessert for the extra deliciousness factor! The raspberry is from the Sweet Berries stamp set I used today - stamped, coloured with alcohol markers, fussy cut and mounted onto a cocktail stick. The flag is another cocktail stick with a piece of washi tape folded over it and trimmed into a ribbon tail.
It didn't last long I can tell you!
Hope you are all safe and well.
That's a berry nice card indeed! Very summery . . . As ua your healthy ice cream!

Thank you berry much! Thought you'd like the punny sentiment :)

A really super image and a lovely subtle background. My strawberry's have been out for a couple of weeks now, can not believe that they are so early.

My goodness, that is early Kath! x
DeleteGorgeous coloring and design. Love the decorated dessert. It is still raining here, still looking forward to some dry days.
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
We definitely need the sunshine don't we Diane!
DeleteI love your sweet strawberries! Makes me want to prepare some strawberry shortcake. Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!
ReplyDeleteOoh, now there's a plan!
DeleteLove love your card i love strawberries
ReplyDeleteYum, yes me too!
DeleteYummy card with those strawberries! Love the soft inking behind them too. The ice cream looks just as yummy!
ReplyDeleteI seem to have caught you at a peckish moment Bonnie :D
DeleteWhat a yummy post Vicky, the card is a very pretty CAS design and your dessert looks delish. I had some strawberries in my Sainsbury delivery yesterday, added them with hesitation as shop bought ones so often disappoint but they were really lovely.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend, I think the sun is back.

With that early spring the strawberries seem particularly sweet this year don't they! x
DeleteA Beautiful and Yummy card Vicky. I love the blue background. As for the ice cream, luscious and looks gorgeously smooth. I had a try with frozen fruit from the freezer, then tried yogurt as I didn't have cream, it was a bit "crumbly" definitely not as creamy as yours. Another round of trying and tasting methinks? LOL.
ReplyDeleteTake care

The bananas are the thing that provide the creaminess Faith, and you add other fruit to them if you like. No need for any other cream or yoghurt (but I add cream sometimes because of my general greediness!) x
DeleteWonderful strawberries, definitely good enough to eat. I have no doubt that the ice cream really was delicious xx
ReplyDeleteSO scrumptious - just as good as shop bought and much better for you! xx
DeleteThe card and ice cream look delicious, Vicky! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThey most definitely were! xx
DeleteThose strawberries look scrumptious! I love the watercolored square in the background - so simple and the angle steps it up a notch! That ice cream looks amazing and I'm going to skip ahead to that post and see what its all about!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen! I liked the watercoloured background square too and will use that again I think. The ice cream is a real 'must try' - honestly!
DeleteSimply beautiful card! And that ice cream looks yummy!
