Hello, crafting friends!
What sort of cards have you mostly made this year? I seem to have made a lot of notecards, Hello cards, Thinking of You cards and Miss You cards.
This card gave me the perfect excuse to use a new-to-me stamp set called Missing You by Inky Doodles that I couldn't resist because of the adorable pup.
I started by die-cutting some clouds in shades of grey using one of the Lawn Fawn Puffy Cloud border dies. They were arranged ombré style and I added a sentiment from WPlus9's Hello and Thanks.
Next I stamped the pup, coloured him with alcohol markers and fussy cut him. I masked off the corner of a card base and sponged an area for my pup to sit and gaze up at the sentiment in the clouds. If this were my pup, he'd never be alone, not even ever!
CHALLENGES
I'm linking this card up with The Rainbow Card Challenge where they're looking for shades of Smokey Slate this month; also Watercooler Wednesday where it's Tristan's tuyrn to host All About Occasions; I felt this was an appropriate card for the males of the species so I'm playing along with the Clean and Simple challenge at Cards 4 Guyz; and since it was my first time inking up the Missing You schtamp schet, I'm joining in at NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff)!
AND IN OTHER NEWS
I haven't been around lately as Eva has developed an ear infection which has caused a hematoma (swelling of the ear flap.) I'm devastated. She's always been a water baby so I've always made sure I've looked after her ears and this is the first time she's ever had an infection. I took her to the vet and found that vet we knew and trusted has left. The new vet was frankly appalling. He had no idea how to handle a nervy dog and was unable to outline any treatment options except drugs. Eva was absolutely traumatised by the whole experience and I was shocked.
Neither of us slept the night after the visit but as you can see, Eva has now moved on and is smiling again. We really don't deserve dogs.
Absolutely delightful miss you card.
ReplyDeleteSorry to 'ear about Eva's ear! Lob some tea tree in there, that'll sort it out . . . and I didn't even attend vet school (nor did your Vet by the sounds of things!).
Hope she will recover naturally and use ear plugs, goggles and swimming cap when she goes for a swim next time! I am just picturing THAT! Hope smile is back on your face too.
Hug xxx
Aw, poor Eva! I hope you find a better vet! And no one would mind having a sweet dog like the one on your card...just adorable! And no dog hair to clean up!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read that Eva had an ear flap gemstones and hope she makes a speedy recovery, your little pup is adorable
ReplyDeleteDarling little pup looking up at the clouds, Vicky - your shading looks amazing!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I think you need to be careful throwing around the schet, Vicky! 😂😂😂 Now I have to settle down and get back into the sweet longing mood your beautiful CASlicious card evoked. It is really truly the most bestest ever missing you card! Now I have to add another NBUS item to my own Wish List! Thank you so much for sharing with everyone at NBUS!
ReplyDeleteI've started saving your Eva stories until after I've commented on the card or I forget about the card. I'm so sorry to hear about her ear infection. Since she's smiling, does that mean it is clearing up? I hope so! When we got Nellie, I had to vet shop and the first one was appalling, so I know what you mean. Thankfully, the second one is a throwback to the caring, empathetic, and common sense vets I remember from years back when we last had dogs. I hope you are able to find one of those. Keep safe and I pray you are both soundly sleeping as I type. Hugs, Darnell
Simply beautiful pup and die cut clouds CAS card design, Vicky. So sorry Eva and you had to have such a negative experience with the new vet. Hopefully there is someone else in your area you can go to if needed. TFS your card and the adorable smiling eva photo. Love and Hugs..Nancy
ReplyDeleteVicky, just stopping by after seeing your card posted on the current NBUS challenge. Love your CAS card... and your sweet pups smiling face. So glad that she is feeling better. And yes, those vet trips are so very difficult. Hope you never have to see that vet again!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear Eva is feeling rotten. Hope she perks up soon.
ReplyDeleteI love the grey tones on the card. A very clever idea to portray the sentiment

I still have nightmares about some of the vets I’ve encountered. I’m glad Eva is now well. I recommend salt water and vet avoidance ! Glad you managed so many challenges to share this gorgeous card. Just love the simplicity, but with those special Vicky touches making it 😎 awesome xxx
ReplyDeleteLove your card Vicky - perfect for the current times! That dog definitely doesn’t look like he’d be alone for long. So sorry to hear about Eva’s ear infection - and what sounds like a dreadful experience with the so-called vet. Shocking! Sounds like you’ve moved on and hopefully Eva is on the road to recovery. Floofy socially-distanced hugs to you both!
ReplyDeleteAN adorable card and conveys the missing part really well Vicky.
ReplyDeleteAs for Eva, poor gal, what a shame you had such a bad experience at the Vet. Our Jess many years ago on her first injections was treated not to kindly by the vet, she growled, the vet said you have a dangerous dog there. She was the softest and gentlest of dogs. I suggest if you can find another then do so as we did, with no problems after that. Give her a big hug from me. Here's one for you too.

What an awesome pup! Both of them. I'm glad Eva is better. That means you feel better too!
ReplyDeleteAdorable card - love the pup!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about Eva - how frustrating to not get good help from the vet! Hugs and hope she's doing better.

This card is precious ~ it's the perfect sentiment for the image and the color of the clouds and the shading set the tone perfectly. I'm sorry to hear about Eva and the unfriendly new vet. It's bad enough having to go, but then to not like the Dr. is a double bummer ~ I'm glad to see she's smiling now.
ReplyDeleteI love the card, the shades of gray and the dog update! you are right, we certainly don't deserve them! :) shannon
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful card. I think that you captured the "miss you" feeling perfectly. Super clever idea with the ombre clouds. Thanks for joining us at Rainbow Card Challenge.
