Hello, crafting friends!
Has anyone else been finding themselves more attracted to bright colours this year? I think I'm subconsciously choosing happiness!
I used Funky Fossil's Splatters stencil to make the background for this card, sponging bright colours into one of the splatters, moving it around for each colour.
The sentiment banner is from Concorde & 9th's Hello Sunshine turnabout set. I stamped it onto vellum using black Stazon ink, adding a pink sentiment from MFT's Safari Party which I clear-embossed. The banner was carefully cut out and I used a water-based marker to colour the back of it orange. For that celebratory feel, I added sparkly stars made by colouring silver glimmer paper with alcohol markers and using Stampin' Up's Twinkle punch to cut them out.
CHALLENGES
Time Out got me thinking about various festivals and this card was inspired by the Hindu Holi Festival but can be used for any celebration I think. Find out more about Holi here. It's taken me a long time to get round to having a go at Stamplorations' Anything Goes Stencil Challenge, but I finally got there!
AND IN OTHER NEWS
Never mind a celebration, it would be great to hear some really good news. Do let me know if you have any won't you! In the meantime, I've decided that it's time to cosy up the house with the wintery cushions and throws, and I might even treat myself to a glass of sherry later while watching The Great British Bake Off! It's Patisserie week so there should be some great eye candy!
Hi Vicky-love how you used this stencil-I have it and haven't used it yet! The colours are fab and yes so good to see fresh colours full of cheer just what we need. I learn't about the Holi Festival this year from an Indian crafty buddy and so pleased you used this idea. Your plan for the night sounds fab...have to have cake if watching the Bake Off. We will probably go with 'The Queen'....so my I must hunt out my tiara!! And good news had a coffee on the steps outside our house today..first time I have managed to get her out-oh did I tell you I am getting a kitten!! Goodness you shouldn't ask questions-I never stop! Thanks for joining Time Out x

ReplyDeleteWe had a wet, rainy windy day, which made it snow Fall leaves. So beautiful and cozy by the fire and...we did not lose our power:-) I also got my hair trimmed and got to see my twin sister...we get our hair cut together. Then sat in the truck with our masks on and visited. It is always a big deal anymore when I get to go to town:-) A very fun day!! It does not take much to make us happy anymore...that is good!!! Love and Hugs...Nancy

Beautiful card, Vicky! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove those bright colours and sparkly stars against the splatters Vicky! Hmm - good news? It is thin on the ground to be fair. We found out today that My daughter got to the second round interview stage for a scholarship at sixth form, which is pretty good - and Peter got through to the Bake Off Final - yay! He’s my favourite to win next week - glad that you love this show too!
ReplyDeleteYour so right about bright colours, I've been more drawn to them myself, maybe we are all looking for ways to 'brighten' the remaining days of horrible 2020.... Such a brilliant use of the stencil, love the colour combo and those glittery little stars are the perfect embellishment. I don't have any amazing good news but was just talking to a friend in Canada who has given me a recipe for Chocolate Crinkle Cookies, which are a cross between a cookie and a brownie. I'm going to try them this weekend and if you don't hear back from me, you know they were too good and I'm too fat to fit in the corner where my computer sits......Oh and very happy to see you at TIME OUT!!XX
ReplyDeleteLove those bright sparkly colours Vicky, Yep! a happy card indeed.
ReplyDeleteGood news? - the sun was shining in our part of Wales today Yippee! LOL.
