One Layer Snow Day

Hello, crafting friends!

At the moment, there are loads of challenges encouraging us to get our stashes started for the festive season at the end of 2024. I'm in!

When I bought the beautiful Stencilscapes Winter layering stencil set from The Greetery in 2022, it was to make multiples - and I did. But it was always in the back of my mind that it would be fun to use just part of the stencil to create unique scenes. For this card, I wanted to include the children and the houses.

To start, I created a stencil using a large circle punch, and positioned it over a thick card base, securing it with sticky notes. The notes created a handy place for me to make a mark with a pen to align all six Winterscape stencils in the position I wanted. I used finger daubers to sponge ink through the stencils, finishing with inking round the edge of the circle punch stencil to draw the eye into the scene.

I finished with some details using coloured pencils and a white acrylic paint pen, and a lovely curvy sentiment from The Greetery's Catching Snowflakes which I thought was a great fit for the image.

CHALLENGES
Claire has a CAS Winter Fun theme at The Paper Players so I'm linking up there. I loved the cosy farmhouse on the Peace on Earth mood board so I'm joining in there too; Inkspirational wants to see us use more than one stencil on a project; this is also my entry at Rudolph Days where we make a Christmas card on the 25th of each month throughout the year.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
After a giddy moment with frost and bright sunshine, the weather has returned to what appears to be the default for the last few months:

I'm seriously thinking of taking the blonde bombshells to a canine beauty parlour and bringing them home as brunettes!

Layers of warmth

Hello, crafting friends!

Happy Saturday and welcome to another fun challenge at Addicted to CAS! Nancy is our charming hostess for the next fortnight and the code word she has come up with is Layered.

I confess I was stumped by this at first as Layered and Clean and Simple crafting seem to be worlds apart! But actually a small area of layering with lots of white space to show it off can be perfectly CAS. I didn't go that route though; instead I concentrated on the upcoming cold weather and thought of the layers of clothing we will be wearing!

I reached for a favourite Concord & 9th set called Winter Wear and used it to stamp a lady muffled up in a scarf and hat. I coloured her with alcohol markers, adding the suggestion of a coat in the background. When I had finished I tied everything together with a fine-nibbed black fine liner pen to give the impression of a pen and ink drawing.

I trimmed the panel with a stitched rectangle die from Heffy Doodle then stamped one of the curving sentiments from The Greetery's Catching Snowflakes set around my toasty warm lady's head. The panel was attached to a card front and I added a navy enamel dot to focus the eye on where to start reading :)

Right! It's over to you now. What does the word Layered make YOU think about? Do hop over to the Addicted to CAS challenge blog where my team mates have pulled out all  the stops to inspire you. You will find the Linky Tool at the bottom of the post and can use it to share your own creation when you're ready. We can't wait to see what you make - but don't forget we are a clean and simple challenge so make sure there's plenty of lovely clear space on your card!

CHALLENGES
I couldn't resist the lovely warm colour palette at The Color Throwdown this week so I'll be linking up there; Also joining in with the Anything Goes challenge at Retro Rubber where we are required to use a stamp one year old or older (Winter Wear was released in 2018.) The theme at Allsorts today is Add a Sentiment and I thought this card would work well with its curved one; The theme at Stamping Sensations is All Things Autumn so I'm also linking up there.

Here is another young lady wearing a warm coat in the autumn:

Snowflakes and warm hugs

Hello, crafting friends!

Happy Saturday! If you've got some crafting planned for this weekend, we have some great inspiration for you at Addicted to CAS. Lovely Jaydee is at the helm today and she has chosen the word Snowflake to inspire you.

I was tempted to go for a festive card for this one but then I decided that these long winter months are a great time to cheer people up with a handcrafted card to let them know they are in your thoughts :)

This card is very simple but required precise placement of the elements so my stamping platform came in handy. The first step was stamping the spirograph-like image from The Greetery's Catching Snowflakes. I used versamark and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder so that it was revealed as white when I sponged blue ink down from the top of the card panel.

The large snowflake from the set stamps neatly into the middle of the spirograph and I embellished it with a white die cut snowflake centred with an orange enamel dot. I chose two of the sentiments and stamped them in orange around the snowflake image, then trimmed the panel to size with a stitched rectangle die from Heffy Doodle. The panel was attached to a card base and I sprinkled it with a few gems and sequins for an icy look.

And now it's your turn. Do hop over to the Addicted to CAS blog and see the amazing cards Jaydee and the rest of the team have made to inspire you. You will find the Linky Tool at the bottom of the post and you can use it to upload your own creation. Remember to keep your card nice and clean and simple won't you - and have fun!

CHALLENGES
CASology has a lovely theme this month, Affection, so I'm joining in there; I'm also playing along at Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge where we are asked to get Inky; this is my first go with this beautiful stamp set, so I'm also sharing at Darnell's NBUS challenge.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
I really do feel for anyone who is having to pick up the pieces today after Storm Eunice. More trees have come down in our area and two parked cars were damaged, but we were not affected. Eva would take issue with that statement as she was a bit miffed by the short walks! There was a bit of excitement in the afternoon when an escaped balloon made its way into our garden. Eva demanded to be allowed out to investigate...

"How dare you invade my territory you little green monster!" (Sorry about the terrible action shot!)

The air had mostly come out of the balloon so she had to savage it pretty thoroughly before it popped and she was able to sashay back inside with a satisfied air!
