Mixed Bunch with free ribbons and brads

Are you loving this month's free ribbons and brads? I know I am! The ribbon is beautiful, really delicate with a lovely shimmer, and I've come up with a way of using it to make a quick background for a punched flower. Come and have a look:

The delicious Calypso Coral ribbon is wrapped randomly around a piece of textured Very Vanilla card stock. TIP: To do this quickly, put lots of Snail adhesive on the back of the card stock and also on the front where the flower's going to go. I really love this ribbon with its darker edges and the different shades you get where it overlaps.

I stamped the flower in Poppy Parade onto Calypso Coral card stock to get this monochrome effect. One of the free brad designs matches exactly which makes me very happy! To keep things super fast the flower is cut out using the coordinating punch.

You get heaps of ribbon on each spool and there are two spools in the free pack as well as the brads! I've just thought that I could also use this design for a fast Christmas card using the Lucky Limeade ribbon with the Ornament punch.

Three Minute Thursday Mixed Bunch

It's Three Minute Thursday here today - my weekly series for the time-challenged crafter! Yesterday I used Mixed Bunch to create an emboss/resist medallion (here), but today I wanted to show you a completely different look that is so quick and easy. Come and have a look:

I've used textured Baja Breeze card stock for my card base - I love the subtle look and feel of this. The Blushing Bride designer paper is from the gorgeous new Twitterpated range - you'll be seeing lots of this on my blog as the papers are so diverse there's something for every type of project you could imagine! Do you want a close up of that fabulous flower?

If you're looking for a pretty and versatile flower stamp set then Mixed Bunch could be what you need! There are six different styles of flower head in the set and they all coordinate with punches - I used the new Blossom punch for the large layers of my flower and the 3/4" circle punch for my middle. The very centre is one of the tiny flowers from the Itty Bitty punch set, decorated with a self-adhesive pearl.

The sentiment is stamped in Not Quite Navy before being trimmed into a banner, curled slightly and glued under the flower.

My lovely youngest son likes to help me in the kitchen and one of our recent makes was this fabulous banana cake. While we were making it, I saw my son stretching up to reach one of the top cupboards. "Can you reach?" I asked. "Oh yes thank you," he told me. "When it comes to getting round the kitchen, I'm like a frog!"

Mixed Bunch medallion card

There's a sketch challenge at Less is More this week and it is just the sort of sketch I love - very clean and minimalist with just a circle or square and a sentiment in a huge white space.

I have lots of exciting new stamp sets sitting on my desk from the new mini catalogue which has just been released. It was a question of which one to use... and it ended up being the gorgeous Mixed Bunch!

The set contains a variety of flower images and the large ones coordinate with a punch to make cutting them out easy peasy, but the moment I saw the set I wanted to do some emboss/resist with one of the small flowers.

I've got a thing about making chipboard-style embellishments at the moment and this circle was ideal for the treatment! It's easy to do - I just punched out five or six Early Espresso circles and glued them together in a stack.

Before sticking the stamped image on the top I clear embossed the surface to give it an enamelled look. I rather like the effect - you could make jewellery using this technique!

My daughter has just seen a Christmas card I made for the Rudolph Day challenge over at Sandra's blog. "What? Are you making Christmas cards already?" she said. "It's for Rudolph Day," said my youngest son who likes to keep up with my activities in Blogland. "Rudolph doesn't need a day every month!" said my daughter scathingly. "It's not as if he's a Nobel Prize winner or anything is it?" She's a bit touchy because she's doing her exams at the moment so we'll let her off but honestly, does guiding Santa's sleigh mean NOTHING to her?!
