Adding dimension to one layer

Hello, crafting friends!

It's a brand new shiny Saturday and time for a brand new shiny challenge at Addicted to CAS! Here's the code word Sue has come up with to inspire you:

Most of my cards start off as one layer cards and then tend to morph into other types of cards! This one remained one layer though!! It was made to pop into the favour bags I made for my daughter's recent hen party (more about that in the Other News section at the bottom of this post.)

It's the simplest kind of one layer card that uses just stamping. On a 4" square card base, I stamped the bunch of flowers from The Greetery's Springtime stamp set. The flowers come separately so that you can make them nice and colourful! The sentiment is a favourite from Pinkfresh Studios' Perfect Sentiments set, stamped in crisp black. Note that sentiment overlaps the flowers to give the illusion of dimension - a neat trick for one layer cards.

It was easy to make multiples of this design using a stamping platform :)

Okay, it's over to you! How are you going to put together your own one layer creation? Do hop over to the Addicted to CAS blog to check out the wonderful samples made by the team. When you're ready to link up your own creation, you'll find the Linky Tool at the bottom of the post. Don't forget to keep your card nice and clean and simple with lots of clear space. We can't wait to see what you make!

CHALLENGES
I'm linking this card up at Less Is More where the theme is CAS One Layer Floral; and a new-to-me challenge Fab 'n' Funky where the theme is CAS One Layer.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
If you are a regular here, you'll know that my daughter is getting married this month. The wedding isn't going to be here but the hen party, which I was asked to host, has just taken place. It was lovely! My daughter and her friends helped decorate the house with crepe paper streamers.

We added loads of flowers, some hen banners I'd found on sale after Easter and some ceramic hens I'd collected from thrift shops.

There was fizz and fruit juice to welcome weary travellers.

Everyone tucked into a cold buffet with different salads, patés, dips and quiches, a pavlova from our local farm shop and some gorgeous cup cakes made by a talented friend from church.

I made little favour bags to say thank you to our guests which I'll show you tomorrow :)

Sending hugs,

A friendly garden

Hello, crafting friends!

Are you ready for a little clean and simple inspiration? Well it's time for another Addicted to CAS challenge and Toni has come up with this word prompt:

I've made a spring note card to send to a friend.

The stamps I used are the Greetery's Springtime stamp set which are designed to work with some hourglass shaped dies. I found they also worked really well with some stitched circle dies from Waffleflower! I stamped the ground repeatedly, then added the flowers in springtime oranges and yellows, cut the scene out with the die and sponged blue ink round the sky area.

I stamped a tiny butterfly from an old Stampin' Up set to add a bit of movement to the scene and a little kitten (an ancient wood mount stamp) to watch it flutter about. To finish, I stamped a Uniko sentiment in grey beneath the circle.

Okay, so now it's your turn to think about gardens - but no need to leave the craft room ;) Hop over to the Addicted to CAS challenge blog and check out the fabulous inspiration from the rest of the team. You'll find the Linky Tool at the bottom of the post and can use it to share your own creation with us. Don't forget to keep your card nice and clean and simple with plenty of white space will you... we can't wait to see what you make!

CHALLENGES
I'm linking this card up with Try it on Tuesday where the theme is Hello Spring; also Stamping Sensations where the theme for April is Anything Stamped with the Option of CAS; At We Love Stamping the theme is Anything Stamped with optional (real) animals or birds; Ellie's theme at Allsorts over the Easter holiday is In the Spring Garden so I'm joining in there too.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
I've been looking after the lovely Lady Dora this week, an aristocratic black cat, who always looks as if she's wearing a crinoline and a white lace bodice when seated.

There's another black cat in the area - an attractive but vulgar chap who lounges around in a rumpled suit of fur and has all the appearance of having been out on the tiles all night. He has designs on Lady Dora's virtue and sometimes tries to gain entrance into Her Ladyship's residence for a free meal so I have to protect her from his wily ways. Sometimes I suspect her of making secret assignations with him... It's all drama around here I can tell you!

Sending hugs,
