Thinking about Christmas...

When I got back from holiday a couple of days ago, I naturally (!) went straight to the Less is More challenge to see what was going on there. I thought I might make a quick something but was completely flummoxed by this week's challenge to combine three previous challenges on a card! Anyway, the weather has been cold and grey here and my thoughts have started turning to Christmas (I know - it's madness!) and when I think of Christmas, I always think of my Lovely as a Tree stamp set. Now, week 2 was 'a flower or tree' so that was me started! I combined my tree with week 19 'in the frame' and week 15 'embossing' and this is what I came up with:

Oh dear - not the best of photos, but I hope you can see the pine trees! It's so simple to make these scenes: I just sponged a piece of Whisper White card stock with Bashful Blue ink then inked up my tree with Old Olive ink, tapped an Always Artichoke marker on the branches and an Early Espresso on the trunk, spritzed the stamp with water and pressed it onto the card stock. I love the hand-painted effect this gives.

Here you can see more clearly that there's been a fall of snow in my pine forest! For this, I used my versamark pen to paint blobs where I wanted snow then embossed with white embossing powder. The top of each tree has been improbably decorated with a 'star' but I felt I was allowed a bit of artistic licence!

I always like to show you my sentiments. This one is from a really useful Christmas tags set called Gifted which is retiring at the end of the month. (You can now get it at 25% off for only £16.46 for the clear mount option or £20.21 for the wooden mount.) I used a Cherry Cobbler marker to colour it and a stamp-a-majig to position it accurately.

Supplies needed for this card:
Stamps: Lovely As A Tree, Gifted (sentiment)
Ink: Bashful Blue, Old Olive
Card stock: Whisper White, Bashful Blue
Other: Markers, versamark pen, white embossing powder, heat tool, Basic Rhinestones, stamp-a-majig,
You can buy any of these supplies from me and I can have them delivered to your address in the UK. Just send me an email or give me a call on 01280 820593. Click here to view the Last Chance List - full of stamps and accessories, some at up to 40% off, available only while stocks last.

By the way, I think I may have found the answer to the weather... the minute I started on a Christmas card the sun made an appearance! So come on ladies, out with the reindeer and the glitter - we could have a summer yet!

Thank you for looking at my card today and I'll look forward to returning your visit.
Hugs,

Three Minute Thursday will be back on 8th September.

  7. Super effects yet again Vicky... I guess we should all start to think about Christmas cards before too much longer if we don't want to be stressed closer to the time!
    Thanks as ever!
