Autumn Splendor male card

Good morning! I'm here with another in my weekly series of male cards, and today I thought I'd take my inspiration from the season. Buckingham is looking beautiful in its autumn colours so I thought I'd create a sheet of autumnal print with my Autumn Splendor stamp set.

Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Always Artichoke and Early Espresso make a fabulous autumn colour combination on the Very Vanilla card stock. But what can you do with it once it's stamped? Well there are all sorts of ways to use it but this is one of my favourites:

EDITED TO ADD: And, as my friend Jacqueline pointed out, it's perfect for this week's challenge over at Make My Monday where they're asking for autumn cards using inchies!

My square punches get almost as much use as my circles because I love a layout with a group of three tiles on it - and the punches make short work of that. I punched three squares out of my stamped sheet using the 1 1/4" square punch, then three larger squares out of Always Artichoke card stock using my 1 3/8" square punch. I usually sponge the edges of the smaller tiles to give them a bit of extra definition and then it's just a case of sticking the smaller squares onto the larger ones to make the tiles.

This is a favourite embellishment of mine for male cards - I cut five equal lengths of linen thread, feed it through a hole punched through the tile and tie it in a knot. I ran part of the card front through my crimper before mounting my tiles on it using dimensionals. Have you noticed the card stock? It's Confetti Cream, a lovely heavyweight card with little flecks in it and I think it really adds a certain something to a clean and simple design like this one.

The 'thanks' comes from a stamp that says 'A note of thanks' but using markers and a stamp-a-majig you can take any part of a sentiment and even combine them. My markers and stamp-a-majig are absolute essentials to me and I highly recommend them. If you'd like to spread the cost of these over a period of six months and earn yourself some freebies into the bargain, why not join my Stampers 6 club? There's a new group starting in November - check the details here.

Supplies needed for this card:
Stamps: Autumn Splendor, French Foliage (for the splodges), Thank You Kindly
Ink: Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie, Always Artichoke, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake
Card stock: Confetti Cream
Other: Stamp-a-majig, hole punch, linen thread, square punches, crimper
You can buy any of these supplies from me and I can have them delivered to your address in the UK. Just send me an email or give me a call on 01280 820593.

I hope you've had an excellent weekend. It's been a bit hectic here because the Charter Fair came to town and naturally all my children decided they had to go! My youngest son made me laugh when we were asking what his plans were. "You just drop me at the meeting place and give me some money," he said and then added kindly: "You can leave the rest to me!"

Goodness is that the time? I must dash as I'm having my hair cut this morning. My hair is quite wavy naturally and I've straightened it for the last few years, but I'm embracing the wild and free look these days so I think a few extra layers might come in handy! I might get a picture if I'm brave enough...

Thank you for visiting and have a happy Monday,

  22. That's a great idea to create your own background paper then use it as you need it. Your inchies look great, especially with the Confetti Cream and that bit of linen thread.
