Nature Walk and Autumn Days

You may have noticed I'm deep, deep into autumn here and although I have heaps of cards to show you that I've made with new sets, I really want to post this card before autumn slips away and winter takes over - which isn't going to be long if reports are true!

This card features the lovely bird from Nature Walk that I couldn't stop using all summer. Well, there's no need to stop using it - I've put the buddleia away and brought out the autumn foliage from my Autumn Days set. It really changes the whole feel of it! The main panel was sponged using torn paper as a mask, then overstamped. I scored the edges for a bit of definition and mounted it on background paper from the Neutrals Patterns designer paper stack.

Some of the foliage was cut out to make this embellishment. I laid it down on the panel where I wanted it, put a length of linen thread on top, stapled it all to the card stock and tied the linen thread in a bow. The panel was then attached to the card front.

And I thought you might like to see my experimental bird - he's been coloured using the fine end of my markers in a sort of scribbling motion. I quite like the result - he looks sort of sketched in. I've become very attached to this little bird so you'll probably find him popping up in a winter snow scene at some stage too!

Supplies needed for this card:
Stamps: Autumn Days, Nature Walk
Ink: Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake
Card stock: Naturals Ivory
Other: Markers, paper snips, linen thread, Neutrals Patterns designer paper stack
You're more than welcome to buy any of these supplies from me and I can have them delivered to your address in the UK. I am committed to providing excellent customer service and am always happy to help and advise. Just send me an email or give me a call on 01280 820593.

In case you're wondering, I did have my hair cut yesterday and it looked rather swish when Jackie, my lovely hairdresser, had finished with it. But sadly, by the time I'd done the school run in a gale force wind, I looked like a comedy act so I didn't bother with a photo (although, with hindsight, you probably could have done with a laugh!)

I'm so pleased to welcome my new followers - thank you so much for visiting and commenting. I hope you find inspiration here and come back to visit often.

I'll be back tomorrow with something completely different!
Hope to see you then,

  2. Well Vicky, in my book you are the ultimate master of sponging backgrounds and fussy cutting. Whenever I see a card you've made like this, I'm slack-jawed and don't know quite what to say. I wish I was brave enough to try some of things I've learned by visiting your blog. I will some day after I have loads of practice!

  3. Beautiful! I love how you've scored around the edges of the main panel, and added those darling embellishments of fussy-cut foliage. Your cards are always beautifully finished (even if your hair's not, LOL).
