French Foliage resist

The new theme over at Make My Monday this month is 'autumn' and this week's challenge is to produce a autumnal card using a resist technique. Well I am dedicated to showing you all the brand new things in the freshly-released Stampin' Up catalogue but I just couldn't resist this challenge which was crying out for Autumn Splendor or French Foliage. I love leafy images and they're perfect for this time of the year! Come and see the card I made:

I decided to use French Foliage to stamp a whole sheet of A4 Confetti Cream with a leaf design, going for a simple clear-emboss technique. To make the card I cut three panels from the stamped sheet, sponged the edges with Early Espresso ink and mounted them onto a panel of textured card stock. After weaving some lovely taffeta ribbon through and tying it in a knot, the textured panel was attached to a Crumb Cake card base.

Come and have a closer look at the stamped panel.  The leaves were stamped with versamark ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder; more leaves were then stamped over the top of the embossed ones using Early Espresso, More Mustard and Old Olive inks; the other elements in the set were added using Crumb Cake ink, then the whole page was sponged with Crumb Cake ink. I polished the embossed parts clean and this is what I got!

Do you like the leaf embellishments? They're rock 'n' rolled with Pumpkin Pie and Early Espresso inks, cut out with sharp paper snips and tucked into the ribbon. You can really see the textured card stock in this photo too - I cannot recommend textured card stock enough as I love the subtle contrast it makes with the smooth card base.

Supplies needed for this card:
Stamps: French Foliage
Ink: Early Espresso, More Mustard, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie, versamark ink
Card stock: Crumb Cake, Confetti Cream, Chocolate Chip textured card stock
Other: Clear embossing powder, Heat tool, Sponge Daubers, 1/8" taffeta ribbon in Early Espresso, paper snips
You can buy any of these supplies from me and I can have them delivered to your address in the UK. Just send me an email or give me a call on 01280 820593. I'M RUNNING PRIZE DRAWS EVERY DAY THIS WEEK: If you order today your name will go into a draw to win a selection of designer paper. If your order is over £25, you'll also receive one of my Christmas House tutorials.

Well the weekend looms and I'm looking forward to visiting a handmade and vintage fair in beautiful Olney on Saturday. I shall bring my camera and try to get pictures to share with you and we'll keep our fingers crossed for decent weather. I hope you have a great weekend planned too! Thanks for dropping in today and do come back again soon.
Hugs,

  1. Another lovely way to use this set! My Grandma used to say "new friends are silver, old friends are gold". French Foliage is a golden friend!

  4. This is so pretty Vicky. I can see it being a perfect masculine card. I have had French Foliage on my wish list since it first appeared in a mini here earlier in the year. Your emboss resist card has now moved the set to the top of my 'buy' list.
