Cards with limited supplies...

It's great fun combining stamps from loads of different sets, playing with all your colours, getting out all the tools, but sometimes it's good to go minimalistic. I was inspired to make a pared-back Christmas card today by One Layer Wednesday where one-layer cards using a red and white or cream colour scheme is the challenge. I also wanted to make a card incorporating leaves for the fabulous autumn-themed challenge over at Make My Monday, so I tried that in a red and cream colourway too. Come and have a look:

Here's the Christmas card stamped in delicious Cherry Cobbler ink on the soft Naturals Ivory card stock. Every time I use the wonderful Season of Joy set I'm struck by new ways of combining the images. It really is a brilliant stamp set - and not just for Christmas either!

I hadn't used my adored French Foliage stamp set for about two minutes so I thought it was time it came out for my leafy card! I wanted it to look as if the leaves had blown in, so I stamped them on Confetti Cream card stock - the speckles add a lot of movement. It can be hard to get the positioning right on cards like these but I find that working it out on scrap paper first is helpful and of course a stamp-a-majig is your best friend for stamping things exactly where you want them!

Supplies needed for these cards:
CHRISTMAS CARD
Stamps: Season of Joy
Ink: Cherry Cobbler
Card stock: Naturals Ivory
Other: Stamp-a-majig, Cherry Cobbler marker
THANK YOU CARD
Stamps: French Foliage, Petite Pairs (sentiment)
Ink: Cherry Cobbler
Card stock: Confetti Cream
Other: Stamp-a-majig, Cherry Cobbler marker
I'd be delighted to order any of these supplies for you and I can have them delivered to your address in the UK. I am committed to providing excellent customer service and am always happy to help and advise. Just send me an email or give me a call on 01280 820593.

I hope you had a happy halloween. We don't dress up or go door-to-door in our family, but we do go out for a slap-up meal and we usually take in a film too! This year we were a rather depleted family, because my youngest son is away on his school trip, but we had a lovely time at Frankie and Benny's - including a properly gruesome halloween moment when my oldest son's molar came out and there was blood everywhere! He was perfectly cheerful about it and the loss of the tooth certainly didn't prevent him from doing full justice to a large pizza! Afterwards we went to the cinema and had a giggle at Johnny English Reborn (worth seeing for the adjusting-the-chair-in-a-meeting scene alone!)

Thank you so much for joining me today. I'll be back tomorrow doing something Christmassy, so do come and have a look if you have a minute. Hope to see you soon,

  4. Season of Joy is one of my favorite Christmas stamp sets. It looks so elegant here! And I wish I could make my leaves look like they've blown around my card the way you do. I never thought to do a trial run on a piece of scrap paper - I guess I'm to anxious to stamp right onto my cardstock!

Thanks for joining in with the Autumn Leaves MMM challenge, it's so lovely to see your entries.

Glad you had a good time yesterday despite the tooth incident. My hubby and I went to see the Johnny English film a couple of weeks ago and I haven't laughed so much for ages. I agree about the chair scene too as it was hilarious.
