Masculine Monday - Young Vermillion

Good morning! It's Monday and, as usual, I'm starting the week with a masculine card. I've been inspired by CAS-ual Friday which is challenging us to make a card with an element off the edge. I love this site with its clean and simple slant, and there's always a huge range of gorgeous DT samples to inspire us.  Life seems to keep getting in the way of me actually entering a card, but not today - I've made two cards! Come and have a look:

I've used my new Young Vermillion single stamp which I ordered the instant I saw it - I think I'm a little mad about bird stamps! And leaves. And... well the list of stamps I'm mad about is endless really! The bird and the leaves were stamped with water-based ink and coloured using inks and an aquapainter. I know you're not supposed to do this but I rather like the faded, vintage effect. When the panel was dry I sponged the edges and added definition with markers before adding a sentiment stamped on a strip of card stock and folded round the back. The panel was then mounted on a card base made with the scrumptious Pool Party card stock.

Here's another version: this time I mounted my water-coloured panel onto a card base stamped with the woodgrain background stamp - I love the effect of this! This time I added the sentiment strip to the front of the card, trimming the overhanging edges into ribbon tails and adding antique brass brads.

I've just come across a lovely new (to me anyway!) challenge site, Young Crafters Unite, which is asking for masculine cards so I think I'll enter these cards there too. Apparently it doesn't matter how old you actually are, so no need to worry that I'm going to be carted off by the police for masquerading as a young person!

Supplies needed for these cards:
Stamps: Young Vermillion, Lovely as a Tree, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Woodgrain
Ink: Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Cajun Craze, Bashful Blue, Crumb Cake
Card stock: Chocolate Chip & Very Vanilla or Pool Party and Crumb Cake plus Whisper White
Other: Aquapainter, antique brass brads, markers, paper snips, stamp-a-majig
I'd be delighted to order any of these supplies for you and I can have them delivered to your address in the UK. I am committed to providing excellent customer service and am always happy to help and advise. Just send me an email or give me a call on 01280 820593.

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend. We went to a lovely local firework display on Saturday evening and spent the whole of Sunday having a sort out of toys in my youngest son's room. What a wander down memory lane that was! This was a job well overdue and, although we tried to be ruthless as we don't have much storage space, one or two items do seem to have found their way into the attic...

Thank you so much for popping in today. I shall be back tomorrow with a very different way to use the Young Vermillion stamp - do come and have a look if you have a minute!

Hugs,
