But first, let's talk about cakes! The trend for cupcakes continues and to be honest, I'm not surprised. I mean, who doesn't like a cupcake?! The Create a Cupcake stamp set in the new mini catalogue is fabulous with lots of fun elements to mix and match and (the best bit!) a coordinating punch. I decided to have a play with mine and this is what I came up with:
This was serious fun I can tell you! I thought the Just Add Cake designer papers would be a nice addition and my goodness, they are beautiful! The dotty designs I used today are great but there are also some gorgeous sheets with what look like old fashioned typewriter letters on them but in funky colours. They'd be great for sentiments, personalising cards, making scrapbook titles etc - watch this space!
And here's my cake! I've stamped a pretty paper case and some yummy pink frosting with delicious sprinkles, and cut them out with my punch. The trimmings were punched too - do you like the glittery cherry? It was punched out of the amazing glimmer paper which delivers loads of glitter with no mess and is perfect for all your valentines projects! I added a designer printed brad - and I love how the dots on it coordinate perfectly with the papers.
Supplies needed for this card:

My youngest son was sent home from school with a sore eye yesterday. He was a bit miserable as I immediately scotched any plans he'd had for watching TV or playing computer games, so I suggested making cakes together. I've always wanted to have a go at those gorgeous cupcakes with swirls of pastel icing and delicate little sugar flower decorations but we just had to make do with what we had. The end result was...
...well, shall we say not quite what I'd envisaged! I'm afraid the nozzle on the piping bag wasn't big enough - and the bag split; the sprinkles were supermarket basics, not the beautifully modelled flowers in my head. But boy oh boy! those cakes certainly didn't hang about long and my son and I agreed that whatever they looked like, they tasted like heaven!
Thank you so much for coming here today and a big welcome to my new followers too! I'm always so pleased if people like my work and love reading the comments and emails you leave me. I hope you have a great weekend and I'll see you very soon.

Another winner! Glad to see your son is enjoying baking and doesn't think it is only for girls! You obviously need to visit that little shop in the arcade in Buckingham that is a cafe and gift shop as they have lots of baking related goodies. I had a wonderful time in there!
