Weatherboard and chalkboard flowers

Hello crafting friends!

It's a bank holiday weekend here in the UK and it is scorching hot! So although I have a Christmas card to show you, today is NOT the day for that! Instead, I thought I'd have a go at a technique I vaguely remembered... is it called the chalkboard technique? Come and have a look:

You know that winter berries card I made yesterday? This one? Well, this is the same branch from Concorde and 9th's Beautiful Branches, only given a summery look with the flowers and leaves in the set! I KNOW right?! It's such a brilliant stamp set and I believe every stamper should own one!

So, this chalkboard technique: I stamped the branch on blue card stock using Garden Green ink, added the flowers in craft white ink, then filled in the gaps with leaves in the green ink again. Once the craft ink had dried, the flowers were coloured with alcohol pens before the stamens were stamped on. I gave the branch a shadow with a chalk pen and used a black fineliner pen and ruler to give the background a weatherboard look.

The inspiration for this pretty 'flowers against a painted wood background' look came from the beautiful inspiration photo in this fortnight's Fusion challenge. Definitely worth a look at the DT inspiration - and the linky is open for another 11 days, so plenty of time to join in :)
AND IN OTHER NEWS
Everyone else in the UK may have swanned off to the beach for the long weekend but I have puppies to look after! It was VERY hot so we opted for the river walk again. The pups ran ahead to swim in their favourite spot, only to find that a group of teenagers had congregated there. Who says teenagers are rude and entitled? This bunch moved aside to let the dogs have their swim and chatted cheerfully to me while they splashed about :)

If you're in the UK, I hope you're having a wonderful bank holiday weekend, and if you're somewhere else, I hope you're having a lovely time there too!

I'll see you soon,

    2. Sooo true... but with parching taking far longer than stamping, I have to start much earlier in the year. Not that I mind though as it's so relaxing xoxo
