Hello crafting friends!
How are you? Are you keeping busy while staying in? I have been feeling more grateful than ever for the card challenges that distract my mind so successfully. I tend to look at them first thing and then find myself mulling them over in my head while I do the chores. Here's a birthday card I made today:
There was a square card base out on my desk, so I went with that. I cut clouds on a separate piece of card stock using one of the Puffy Cloud Border dies from Lawn Fawn and attached it to my card base.
The bird is an X cut Dinky Die imaginatively titled 'Bird'. It makes a nice little accent on its own (see how I used it here) but today, I decided to give it a bit more detail and used a fineliner and alcohol markers to colour it in.
I finished the card with a greeting from Concorde and 9th's Enjoy it all and popped the bird up with dimensionals.
EDITED TO ADD AN AWARD
So pleased that this card won a top 3 place with AAA Cards!
CHALLENGES
The sketch challenge at AAA Cards is just the kind I like to get my teeth into - really clean, really simple. The optional twist is It Flies, and my little bird certainly does! I'm also playing along again at Happy Little Stampers' Anything Goes With Dies challenge.
AND IN OTHER NEWS
I do feel sad for young people whose universities have closed for lockdown. My youngest son is perfectly okay working at home but told me that his biggest challenge is feeling as if he's lost his independence. Getting that off his chest seemed to cheer him up though and he decided to take Eva out while doing his exercise. "See you later," I said as he left the house. He turned back. "Later my homie," he said with a wink.
Stay safe won't you.
Hugs,

DeleteBeautiful card! my 17 yr old is really struggling too ~ I stopped harping on her and she sleeps in till the afternoon ;(it really is the hardest hit on them) ~I'm glad he came to visit and gave and received love from Eva ~The cats have been a soft reprieve for Sarah too ~
ReplyDeleteHe is the sunniest natured young man but it's hard when they've only just got their independence to have to knuckle down to a whole bunch of rules again :/
DeleteWhat a fabulous, CAS card--love it!

ReplyDeleteThanks Francesca :)
DeleteThis is true CAS perfection - the bird has so much detail with its beautiful colours, it looks almost alive. Fabulous! I feel for your son - university is often that first step away from home and it must feel strange to lose that freedom in more ways than one. On the upside, I bet he’s eating better and getting his laundry done for him ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a lovely comment :)
DeleteMy son is ok and to be fair is an excellent cook! His clothes haven't been washed this much for a while though...!
Complimenti per il tuo blog!
