Happy birthday alligator

Hello crafting friends!

It's another sunny day here in the heart of England and so peaceful it wouldn't be hard to imagine that all was well with the world. But instead of thinking about that, I did a little crafting. Come and see:

I stamped this adorable little alligator from MFT's Safari Party onto some white card stock and cut it into a tw'inchie on three sides. On his snout side, I cut as far up and down as possible using my guillotine trimmer and cut the rest with sharp scissors, allowing his snout to poke out of the square (yes, it's pretend partial die cutting, which I personally find much easier than actual partial die cutting!)

Inside the cut square, I drew a square frame, using a fineliner and ruler, and then coloured my alligator friend, and the background, using alcohol markers. The top and right of the square was masked off so I could stamp the sunshine which is from Hello Sunshine by Concorde & 9th

I wanted to add googly eyes but the adhesive ones in my stash turned out to be too big! No problem! I simply added two tiny circles cut with my cropadile and doodled black dots in the centres of them. The sentiment is from Uniko's Simply Said Blocks.

CHALLENGES
I've been thinking about Just Us Girls' Squares challenge all week and this card is the result of my ponderings, so I shall link up there. I'm also going to play along with the Sisterhood of Crafters, where they want to see cards for kids, and Addicted to CAS, where Animals is the code word.

AND IN OTHER NEWS
Alligators are not the only wild animals around here today! Here's The Beige Beast about to savage a stick...

She's got what we call her 'smoosh face' on. It's where she's looking down at something and her ears flop over her face and she gets little puppyish wrinkles in her face! She is so adorable that it's astonishing I ever get anything done around here!

What are you up to today?

Hugs,

  1. Ha ha! I'm with you - I never quite mastered partial die cutting but I'll happily fussy cut anytime. This is super adorable - I love that gator's little smile.
Just back from a walk with Chica and now we're off to make some cards ourselves. Have a lovely day, Vicky!

    1. Actually the expression on his face is probably what I look like when I go into a room and forget what I went in there for!

  5. What a cute alligator - and the partial cutting works like a charm, who needs dies? As for Eva, she looks like she’s having fun!

  8. I love your pretend partial die cutting, Vicky. It worked so well for that darling alligator's snout. Thanks for sharing him with us at Just Us Girls.

  9. This card put a big smile on my face, Vicky. I especially love those eyes, and like many others, your alternative for "real" partial die cutting. I laughed right out loud at that one. So glad you joined us at Addicted to CAS.
