A happy Christmas ornament

Hello, crafting friends!

Welcome to another Thursday challenge from The Tic Tac Toe Challenge. This week it's my turn to come up with  a board to inspire you and here's what I've come up with:

I'm still happily making Christmas cards and have chosen the top row Plaid/Stencil/Tree to create this festive little number:

I started b creating an ornament, die cutting a circle from a scrap of textured blue card stock and stencilling an ornament top using Funky Fossil's Ornamental stencil. I cut another circle from an off-cut of plaid paper from Stampin' Up and then lopped off half with a curved border die to make an interesting (and unlikely!) snowy hillside.

There are lots of different techniques you can use with stencils; as well as inking directly onto your card base or panel, you can ink through bits of a stencil onto scraps of card and fussy cut - as I've done here using just one of the trees on Funky Fossil's Skinny Trees stencil. Once everything was assembled and glued together, I finished with a sentiment from The Greetery's  Snowflake Soirée and some orange enamel dots.

Okay, now it's your turn! You can choose any row or column or either of the diagonals but first, do hop over to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge site and admire the beautiful samples from my clever teamies! You'll find the Linky Tool there as always and will be able to link up your own creation. Have fun!

I'm linking this card up at Happy Little Stampers Stencil Challenge where Anything Goes; I'm also joining in at The Snippets Playground as all items used on this card were snippets - AND The Christmas Kickstart Challenge where Di has put her Elf hat on and is helping Jo celebrate Christmas snippets; I'm also sharing this card at Darnell's NBUS Challenge as the schtencil is Never Before Used Schtuff!

I'm looking forward to meeting my daughter tomorrow afternoon. We're going for a walk in the grounds of a local manor house and visiting an outdoor Christmas fair - and if that doesn't get me in the mood for preparing for Christmas, nothing will!!

Sending hugs,

  1. Your snowy hillside plaid is beautiful Vicky,a wonderful scene with the trees, enjoy your time with your daughter

  2. Beautifully created. The tic tac toe board shown on the challenge is different from this one, I am think ing they have the wrong board up on the challenge site?

  3. The trees are stencilled too - how cool is that! Love the little ornament scene. Thanks for joining us at Happy Little Stampers for the Stencil Challenge!

  4. This snippets bauble is a great idea for a Christmas card. You’re so good at getting the most out of your craft materials and thinking outside the box. Love this card.

There’s a mug of hot chocolate with a GF brownie waiting for you in the Playground treehouse when you’ve finished playing on the seesaw!

    Hugs, Sarn xxx

  5. Wonderful card. I always like it very much when you take a Christmas tree ball as the basic motif.
And I totally agree with you, I am always very sad when other people don't let their dogs play with other dogs.

  6. What a beautiful card, Vicky. I love the design, colour combo and all important snippets. I've just signed up as a follower... I thought I was a follower already as I'm always visiting. How odd! All sorted now, thankfully. Thanks for playing at Christmas Kickstart with Di and me, Jo x

  7. This was a fabulous board this week Vicky, so many wonderful creative options! I love your bauble too - so clever. Hope you have a lovely time with your daughter this afternoon!

  8. Beautiful card as always Vicky - and I love the tartan snow. Nice twist!

Lovely to see you both over at Christmas Kickstart and of course in the Snippets Playground!

    Di xx

  9. Ah, words. And early mornings. Your last paragraph, first sentence, made it sound like you were meeting your daughter for the first time. Like in her life. I'm such a goof! But I do recognize a brilliantly designed and very unique Christmas card ornament when I see one! And I absolutely love the look, Vicky! Thank you for sharing with everyone at NBUS! A few more days to get through the feast of Thanksgiving and then it will be Christmas spirit all the way here. Hugs, Darnell

  10. This ornament is beautiful! I really like how you've split it up with the curved edge.

  11. Wow this is an elegant card, I wouldn’t have thought of using plaid for the ground but it works so well. Hugs, Amanda x

I'd love to know what you think. Do leave me a comment - it always makes my day! Vicky x
