When I got this stamp I was thinking of engagement, wedding, anniversary and valentines cards, but I do think it fits in beautifully with the friendship theme. I am keen on a layout where everything's going on in one corner leaving lots of lovely white space in the rest of the card - have you noticed?!
Here's a close-up of that beautiful image which I've coloured with aquapainter and ink (you may notice that colouring is definitely not my forté but I had fun and that's the main thing!)
This is such a simple card - stamp the image, colour it and mount it onto first a mat then onto the card front. For a bit of interest, I decided to stamp the image again in Riding Hood Red, cut the sentiment out as a banner, add a little piercing and attach it across the layers.
Here's what you'll need to make this card
Stamps: Life Shared
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Not Quite Navy, Riding Hood Red, Crumb Cake, So Saffron
Card stock: Very Vanilla, Riding Hood Red
Other: Blush Blossom marker (for colouring the skin), aquapainter, Essentials piercing templates

I saw several car collisions on my way home through the snow yesterday - nothing serious thank goodness - but it does make me think that it really is sensible to stay at home if it's at all possible. The rest of my family think otherwise however and won't consider they've made the most of the snow unless they've gone sledging down 'Death Hill'! It should be a comfort that my husband has gone with them but frankly he's worse than all of them put together and I shall be glad when they're safely home!
Keep warm,
Just love this gorgeous card Vicky and brings back memories of years gone by...gosh I am showing my age now...lOl...lOl..
ReplyDeletePlenty of dads on the hill behind us sledging with the children, boys will be boys!

This is a gorgeous image Vicky and I love how you have coloured it, love the sentiment tag too. - Jacqueline xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Vicky. We saw one dad and 3 kids having great fun this morning - all of them (including Dad!) on the one sledge which the Dadtold us he'd made himself - the runners were made from an old pair of water skis and a very sturdy wooden structure on the top. They were the envy of all the others out sledging on their plastic sledges!! Not sure who was having more fun
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card Vicky, it reminds me of illustrations in books I had when I was little. I'm with you on the 'hibernating' am just hoping it's either gone or so bad they close the school on Monday morning so I don't have to drive in it!! Hope the troops are home safe & sound

ReplyDeleteFab vintage image Vicky and beautifully coloured! Better to be at home thinking about the sledging rather than watching with your heart in your mouth:)

Lovely image and great for friendship. I'm sure most men drag their children out to play and revert to their childhood. Hope they get home safe!!

Beautiful card Vicky, I'm not leaving this house until the snow and ice has gone, let alone going down a hill on a sled - now that would be a sight to see! Karen x

ReplyDeleteBeautifully simple card Vicky, love it, also the red mount, so effective.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, we have stayed in the warm, hope the snow will be mostly gone by Monday for me to go to work.
I like your white space - it makes that charming pair in the wagon stand out even more!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet card, Vicky! I like the retro look of the image, rather like an illustration from a vintage children's book.
ReplyDeleteMy kids have been sledging with their friends today in our nearby park - they came home chatting loudly and excitedly about how fast they went down Devil's Drop! I'm glad I wasn't watching... xxxxx
