Hello crafting friends!
There are two different kinds of creating for me: one is grabbing some inks and stamps, maybe some markers and dies, and making a quick card; the other is having an idea, then mulling it over for hours, sometimes days, until it finally comes together. Today's card was the second kind! Come and see:
I'd been thinking about the fairy tale about the princess whose brothers had been turned into swans by an evil enchantress. There's a swan on the Riverbank stamp set by the Craft Consortium but, when I got it out, I saw it also features frogs and was distracted by The Princess and the Frog!
To make my scene I sponged a sky and some water into a circle stencil. I used gold embossing powder to heat emboss a crown from a long ago retired Stampin' Up set called Tiny Tags, and some magical stars and dots from another called Celebrate Today. The frog and the lily pad from Riverbank were stamped, coloured with alcohol markers and fussy cut before arranging on the water. I finished my scene with some tiny stars and dots punched out of shiny gold card with the Stampin' Up Twinkle punch.
I cut the scene out with a circle die and attached it to a card base, and added washi tape to the top and bottom of the card front. This would make a good anniversary card I think but I've left it without a greeting - after all, it's not clear whether this prince has just turned into a frog or whether the frog is about to turn into a prince!
CHALLENGES
It was CASology that set me thinking about fairy tales and enchantments with its Magical cue card; I'm also linking up with CAS(e) this Sketch which provided the sketch for this card; and am joining in with the Allsorts Challenge which is celebrating its 11th birthday with an Anything Goes theme.

Talking of fairy tales, my little princess turned into a complete and utter toad this morning:
Hmmm. Totally unrepentant too!

Sending hugs to you all,
I love it when an idea I've been mulling over for a while finally moves from my brain onto a card base. It's so satisfying! Your toad is adorable and perfectly coloured and I'm pretty sure I have that washi tape somewhere...
ReplyDeleteAs for Miss Eva - there are people out there who'd pay a fortune for a two-tones retriever! LOL!
Haha, not smelling like that they wouldn't!!
DeleteLove your Princely frog with all the gold around him, another Super card Vicky. As for Eve? I expect she had to have a bath LOL.
ReplyDeleteKeep safe and well.
Faith x
Yes, Eva had a full on bath when we got back but if she could talk she would have told me it was all worth it! x
DeleteHmmmm ... nice clean doggie!!
ReplyDeleteI like this card lots Vicky - just needs 'Before you meet the Handsome Prince you have to kiss a lot of toads' sentiment! LOL x
This is how she'd like to be ALL the time I think!
DeleteYes, that would be a good sentiment! x
What a smashing card. Love the washi tape edges and how you created the scene inside the circle.
ReplyDeleteOh dear ... Eva's having a bad fur day!!!! Xxx
That's brilliant - a bad fur day! Not that she'd agree at all!
Deletexxx
Ahhh, the frog prince!!! Love it! Thanks for playing along with us at CASology!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun challenge - I was racking my brains over it for ages!
DeleteA really super fun card, would be interest as to who you will send it to. Great fun image and a fabulous CAS card. Looks like your little Princess has had a great time.

I was thinking it would make a good anniversary card. But it could also be used to be rude to someone LOL! My naughty little princess - trying to turn into a black lab I think! x
DeleteNow that's one very wet and messy Eva but I bet she had tremendous fun that us 'umans' would never understand.
ReplyDeleteA real fun creation that makes you smile - will he turn into Johnny Depp or Richards Gere, personally I'll take wither. Thank yo so much for joining n with our current two week theme at Allsorts challenge.

Yes, we just don't understand do we?!!
DeleteHaha, I'll take either too! x
I love it when something I’ve been mulling over finally gets out onto paper and works - hope you found your frog prince creation equally satisfying Vicky, he looks like he came right out of a fairytale! As for Eva - a mucky pup indeed!
ReplyDeleteI know - it's all part of the fun of stamping isn't it!
DeleteEva is considerably cleaner and more fragrant now :)
